The ProtoDUNE-SP detector is a single-phase liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) that was constructed and operated in the CERN North Area at the end of the H4 beamline. This detector is a prototype for the first far detector module of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), which will be constructed at the Sandford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota, U.S.A. The ProtoDUNE-SP detector incorporates full-size components as designed for DUNE and has an active volume of 7 × 6 × 7.2 m3. Combined sensitivity of JUNO and KM3NeT/ORCA to the neutrino mass ordering

This article presents the potential of a combined analysis of the JUNO and KM3NeT/ORCA experiments to determine the neutrino mass ordering. This combination is particularly interesting as it significantly boosts the potential of either detector, beyond simply adding their neutrino mass ordering sensitivities, by removing a degeneracy in the determination of ∆m231 between the two experiments when assuming the wrong ordering. The study is based on the latest projected performances for JUNO, and on simulation tools using a full Monte Carlo approach to the KM3NeT/ORCA response with a careful assessment of its energy systematics. Eos: conceptual design for a demonstrator of hybrid optical detector technology

Abstract Eos is a technology demonstrator, designed to explore the capabilities of hybrid event detection technology, leveraging both Cherenkov and scintillation light simultaneously. With a fiducial mass of four tons, Eos is designed to operate in a high-precision regime, with sufficient size to utilize time-of-flight information for full event reconstruction, flexibility to demonstrate a range of cutting edge technologies, and simplicity of design to facilitate potential future deployment at alternative sites. Radioactivity control strategy for the JUNO detector

JUNO is a massive liquid scintillator detector with a primary scientific goal of determining the neutrino mass ordering by studying the oscillated anti-neutrino flux coming from two nuclear power plants at 53 km distance. The expected signal anti-neutrino interaction rate is only 60 counts per day (cpd), therefore a careful control of the background sources due to radioactivity is critical. Recent studies have substantiated that preschool children are able to perceive the emotional meaning in music. However, to date, research has not paid enough attention to children’s emotional expression in music. The current study investigated 3- (N=18) and 5- (N=19) year-old children’s ability to express emotion with music by manipulating musical factors (pitch, loudness and tempo) to indicate one of three basic emotions (happiness, sadness or angriness). Tämän laadullisen tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää kitaristien kokemuksia ja näkemyksiä sointivärin ja sen varioinnin merkityksistä musiikin ilmaisussa. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin sointivärin erilaisia rooleja ja mahdollisuuksia sekä millaisiin asioihin kitaristi kiinnittää huomiota muodostaessaan sointiväriä. Tutkimusta varten haastateltiin kahta populaari- ja jazzmusiikin parissa toimivaa ammattikitaristia. Sointiväriä tarkasteltiin kitaristien subjektiivisista tulkinnoista käsin liittyen sekä heidän omaan soittoonsa että myös heidän näkemyksiinsä kitaran soittamisesta yleensä. Nuorten musiikillinen tunneilmaisu liikkeen avulla

Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää, voidaanko musiikin välittämien tunteiden tanssillisessa liikeilmaisussa havaita eroja eri tunteiden välillä. Liikemittaustutkimus kohdistui erityisesti nuoriin ja siihen osallistui 61 14-vuotiasta tutkittavaa. Liikkeen eroja tutkittiin niin sanottujen perustunteiden, vihan, pelon, ilon, surun ja hellyyden, välillä. Liikettä analysoitiin Labanin (1950) neljän liikefaktorin, Tilan, Painon, Ajan ja Virtauksen, avulla. Tilastollisena menetelmänä käytettiin toistomittausten varianssianalyysia.
