Synchrony Analysis of Unipolar Cardiac Mapping during Ventricular Fibrillation

Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) is one of the main causes of death in developed countries. Recent studies have shown that fibrillation have a complex organization scheme. This work uses three measures of synchrony to characterize three groups of rabbit hearts. These groups consist of rabbits trained with physical exercise (N=7), untrained rabbits treated with a drug (N=13) and a control group of untrained rabbits (N=15). Cardiac mapping records were acquired using a 240-electrode array placed on left ventricle of isolated rabbit hearts, and VF was induced pacing at increasing rates. To better characterize and assess the genetic potential for increasing aroma quality by breeding, a quantity trait locus (QTL) analysis approach was carried out in an F-1 population segregating largely for fruit traits. Fixed point theorems for $\alpha$-$\psi$-contractive type mappings

In this paper, we introduce a new concept of $\alpha$-$\psi$-contractive type mappings and establish fixed point theorems for such mappings in complete metric spaces. Starting from the Banach contraction principle, the presented theorems extend, generalize and improve many existing results in the literature. Moreover, some examples and applications to ordinary differential equations are given here to illustrate the usability of the obtained results.

In this paper we discuss current methodologies for measuring biodiversity, analyse pros and cons at different scales, and finally propose distribution mapping as the most suitable method for measuring floristic biodiversity on small Mediterranean islands. Novel leaf-level measurements of chlorophyll fluorescence for photosynthetic efficiency

Solar induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) from vegetation can now be obtained from satellites as well as ground-based field studies, at select wavelengths associated with atmospheric features. At the leaf level, full spectrum (650–800 nm) chlorophyll emissions (ChlF) can be measured using specialized instrumentation to support interpretation of these SIF observations. We found that ChlF spectra differ for leaf bottoms versus upper leaf surfaces, potentially affecting within-canopy radiative scattering.
