C. difficile enterocolitis (CDAC) is the most common hospital infection, burdened by an increased incidence of coagulation-related complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) as well as a significant sepsis-related mortality. In this review, we analyzed the available data concerning the correlation between coagulation complications related to C. difficile infection (CDI) and inflammasome activation, in particular the pyrin-dependent one. Background: There are marked sex differences in cardiovascular disease (CVD) manifestation. It is largely unknown how the distribution of CVD risk factors or intermediate phenotypes explain sex-specific differences. Methods and Results: In 5000 individuals of the population-based Gutenberg Health Study, mean age 55 ± 11 years, 51% males, we examined sex-specific associations of classical CVD risk factors with intima-media thickness, ankle-brachial index, flow-mediated dilation, peripheral arterial tonometry, echocardiographic, and electrocardiographic variables. Tika izvirzīti sekojoši jautājumi: kādas sakarības pastāv starp dzimumlomu, uz rūpēm balstīto morālo spriešanu un piesaistes stilu sievietēm un kā dzimumloma un piesaistes stils prognozē uz rūpēm balstīto morālo spriešanu? Pētījumā piedalījās 31 sieviete. BACKGROUND: There is a lack of research on the sexual health of transgender individuals, as well as a paucity of data about overall sexual health indexes before treatment. AIMS: This study aims to analyze the main issues involved in transgender individuals’ sexual behavior (with and without a partner), overall sexual health indexes, and potential predictors of sexual health, comparing trans men and trans women on all the variables assessed. Tēmas aktualitāti nosaka tas, ka elpošanas sistēmas slimības gadu gaitā turpina būt galvenais cēlonis slimnīcās ārstēto bērnu vidū. Arī autore savā ikdienas darbā ir novērojusi, ka akūtas elpošanas sistēmas saslimšanas ir nozīmīgs bērnu veselības problēmu cēlonis kā arī viens no biežākajiem hospitalizācijas iemesliem. Protozooplanktons kā potenciāls indikators pilsētvides hidroekosistēmās

Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, vai protozooplanktona organismi ir potenciāli pielietojami pilsētvides hidroekosistēmu ekoloģiskā stāvokļa novērtējumam. 2014. gada veģetācijas sezonā analizēti 26 paraugi, kas ievākti reizi mēnesī divos ezeros un divos karjeros. Tika aprēķināta ciliātu biomasa, veikta organismu sezonālās dinamikas un izmēru grupu sadalījuma analīze. Šāda veida pētījumi par pilsētas ūdenskrātuvju novērtēšanu, analizējot protozooplanktonu, ir pirmie Latvijas teritorijā. Nākotnes pētījumos jāiekļauj arī oligotrofi ezeri, lai novērtētu ciliātu izmēru grupu dinamiku, mainoties trofijas līmenim.
