Nel saggio si rileggono sinteticamente i principali contributi teorici socio-criminologici attraverso la lente interpretativa della maschilità, indicando gli sviluppi a partire dalle analisi positiviste attraversando le teorie funzionaliste per approdare agli approcci dell’azione strutturata (Messerschmidt 1993; 1997; 2000), cercando di comprendere in che modo l’analisi criminologica abbia spostato il proprio focus d’analisi dai caratteri costitutivi e naturali della maschilità – essere maschi – alla dimensione performativa dei generi – fare i maschi. Decreased prevalence of left-handedness among females with male co-twins: Evidence suggesting prenatal testosterone transfer in humans?

Studies of singletons suggest that right-handed individuals may have higher levels of testosterone than do left-handed individuals. Prenatal testosterone levels are hypothesised to be especially related to handedness formation. In humans, female members from opposite-sex twin pairs may experience elevated level of prenatal exposure to testosterone in their intrauterine environment shared with a male. We tested for differences in rates of left-handedness/right-handedness in female twins from same-sex and opposite-sex twin pairs. Paternal masculinities in early fatherhood: dominant and counter narratives by Finnish first-time fathers

In this article, we seek to extend understanding of the role of gender in early fatherhood by examining narratives of paternal masculinities, that is, the social and cultural constructions of gendered practices and conventions produced by men on their roles as male parents. The data comprised interviews with 44 Finnish first-time fathers (aged 20-42 years) living in a heterosexual relationship. The narrative of the “decent father,” was identified as the dominant narrative of paternal masculinity in early fatherhood.
