Stieltjes Differential Inclusions with Periodic Boundary Conditions without Upper Semicontinuity
2021
We are studying first order differential inclusions with periodic boundary conditions where the Stieltjes derivative with respect to a left-continuous non-decreasing function replaces the classical derivative. The involved set-valued mapping is not assumed to have compact and convex values, nor to be upper semicontinuous concerning the second argument everywhere, as in other related works. A condition involving the contingent derivative relative to the non-decreasing function (recently introduced and applied to initial value problems by R.L. Pouso, I.M. Marquez Albes, and J. Rodriguez-Lopez) is imposed on the set where the upper semicontinuity and the assumption to have compact convex value…
Solving a model for the evolution of smoking habit in Spain with homotopy analysis method
2013
We obtain an approximated analytical solution for a dynamic model for the prevalence of the smoking habit in a constant population but with equal and different from zero birth and death rates. This model has been successfully used to explain the evolution of the smoking habit in Spain. By means of the Homotopy Analysis Method, we obtain an analytic expression in powers of time t which reproduces the correct solution for a certain range of time. To enlarge the domain of convergence we have applied the so-called optimal convergence-control parameter technique and the homotopy-Padé technique. We present and discuss graphical results for our solutions. ©
The effect of the Spanish Law of Political Parties (LPP) on the attitude of the Basque Country population towards ETA: A dynamic modelling approach
2013
Abstract In June 2002, the Spanish Government passed the “Law of Political Parties” (LPP) with the aim, among others, of preventing parties giving political support to terrorist organizations. This law affected the Basque nationalist party “Batasuna”, due to its proved relation with ETA. In this paper, taking data from the Euskobarometro (Basque Country survey) related to the attitude of the Basque population towards ETA, we propose a dynamic model for the pre-LPP scenario. This model will be extrapolated to the future in order to predict what would have happened to the attitude of the Basque population if the law had not been passed. These model predictions will be compared to post-LPP dat…

A note on the existence of an invariant measure for a stochastic model with periodic coefficients
2012
We consider a stochastic model of malaria which concern the infected population and the vector population and whose coefficients are periodic functions. Under a suitable condition the existence of an invariant measure is proved.
SIRV epidemic model with stochastic perturbation
2014
We propose a stochastic disease model where vaccination is included and such that the immunity is permanent. The existence, uniqueness and positivity of the solution and the stability of the disease free-equilibrium are studied
Compactness in Groups of Group-Valued Mappings
2022
We introduce the concepts of extended equimeasurability and extended uniform quasiboundedness in groups of group-valued mappings endowed with a topology that generalizes the topology of convergence in measure. Quantitative characteristics modeled on these concepts allow us to estimate the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness in such a contest. Our results extend and encompass some generalizations of Fréchet–Šmulian and Ascoli–Arzelà compactness criteria found in the literature.

On an idea of Bakhtin and Czerwik for solving a first-order periodic problem
2017
We study the existence of solutions to a first-order periodic problem involving ordinary differential equations, by using the quasimetric structure suggested by Bakhtin and Czerwik. The presented approach involves technical conditions and fixed point iterative schemes to yield new theoretical results guaranteeing the existence of at least one solution.
