Oxcarbazepine does not affect the anticoagulant activity of warfarin.

The possible interaction of the antiepileptic drug oxcarbazepine (OCBZ) on the anticoagulant effect of warfarin was investigated in 10 healthy male volunteers. After reaching steady-state conditions by repeated administration of warfarin, the prothrombin time (Quick value) was assessed before and after single (600 mg) and multiple dosing (450 mg twice daily in 1 week) of OCBZ. In 7 of the 10 volunteers with evaluable data, the prothrombin time was not significantly different (paired t test) from baseline either after single (p = 0.299) or repeated dosing (p = 0.333), indicating that OCBZ does not interact to any relevant extent with the hypothrombinemic effect of warfarin.

In carbamazepine (CBZ) therapy the concomitant monitoring of concentrations of CBZ and its metabolites is strictly recommended, primarily to avoid toxic side effects. Currently, clinical routine monitoring of CBZ is accomplished by high-performance liquid chromatography or immunological methods. In this study a micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatographic (MECC) method was developed for routine drug monitoring of CBZ and its main metabolites, carbamazepine 10,11-diol and carbamazepine 10,11-epoxide, in human serum or plasma samples. Transbuccal drug delivery is an attractive way of administration since several well-known advantages are provided, especially with respect to peroral management. Carbamazepine (CBZ) is an anticonvulsant which is useful in controlling neuropathic pain, and it is currently administered by peroral route, although its absorption and bioavailability is limited due to various factors. Abstract Literature relevant to assessing whether BCS-based biowaivers can be applied to immediate release (IR) solid oral dosage forms containing carbamazepine as the single active pharmaceutical ingredient are reviewed. Carbamazepine, which is used for the prophylactic therapy of epilepsy, is a non-ionizable drug that cannot be considered “highly soluble” across the range of pH values usually encountered in the upper gastrointestinal tract. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt rakstnieka, prinča Džuzepes Tomazi di Lampedūzas romānu “Gepards” (Il Gattopardo) (1958), lai atklātu tā lomu Eiropas (arī Latvijas) literatūrā un sasaisti ar psihoanalīzes idejām un praksēm. Aplūkota Lampedūzas un viņa sievas – psihoanalītiķes, baroneses Volfas – biogrāfija, raksturots romāns “Gepards” un izvērsta tā recepcija. Īpaša uzmanība ir veltīta romāna varoņu tēlojumam. Viņi tiek raksturoti, pievēršoties varoņu dvēseliskajām problēmām. Kopumā “Gepards” daļēji atklājas kā ideju romāns, kas ir ļoti populārs Itālijā, bet ne tik pazīstams darbs Latvijā, savukārt “literalizētā psihoanalīze” – auglīgs paņēmiens arī turpmākiem literatūrzinātnes pētījumiem.

Forest duff layer is usually water repellent due to the hydrophobic organic compounds resulting from degradation of tree tissues. Transition from hydrophobic to wettable conditions, or vice versa, is largely controlled by water content. The objective of this investigation was to assess the influence of soil moisture on the degree of soil water repellency (WR) in exotic and native tree forests. Occurrence of WR was investigated by the water drop penetration time (WDPT) and the ethanol percentage (EP) tests.
