Dynamical zeros in neutrino-electron elastic scattering at leading order

We show the existence of dynamical zeros in the helicity amplitudes for neutrino-electron elastic scattering at lowest order in the standard theory. In particular, the $\lambda=1/2$ non-flip electron helicity amplitude in the electron antineutrino process vanishes for an incident neutrino energy $E_{\nu}=m_{e}/(4sin^{2}\theta_{W})$ and forward electrons (maximum recoil energy). The rest of helicity amplitudes show kinematical zeros in this configuration and therefore the cross section vanishes. Prospects to search for neutrino magnetic moment are discussed.

ModEst - Precise estimation of genome size from NGS data

AbstractPrecise estimates of genome sizes are important parameters for both theoretical and practical biodiversity genomics. We present here a fast, easy-to-implement and precise method to estimate genome size from the number of bases sequenced and the mean sequence coverage. To estimate the latter, we take advantage of the fact that a precise estimation of the Poisson distribution parameter lambda is possible from truncated data, restricted to the part of the coverage distribution representing the true underlying distribution. Engineering Topological Nodal Line Semimetals in Rashba Spin-Orbit Coupled Atomic Chains

We study an atomic chain in the presence of modulated charge potential and modulated Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC) of equal period. We show that for commensurate periodicities $\lambda=4 n$ with integer $n$, the three-dimensional synthetic space obtained by sliding the two phases of the charge potential and RSOC features a topological nodal line semimetal protected by an antiunitary particle-hole symmetry. The location and shape of the nodal lines strongly depend on the relative amplitude between the charge potential and RSOC.

Dynamics of gene regulatory networks and their dependence on network topology and quantitative parameters – the case of phage λ

Background Gene regulatory networks can be modelled in various ways depending on the level of detail required and biological questions addressed. One of the earliest formalisms used for modeling is a Boolean network, although these models cannot describe most temporal aspects of a biological system. Resolvent estimates for the magnetic Schrödinger operator in dimensions $$\ge 2$$

It is well known that the resolvent of the free Schr\"odinger operator on weighted $L^2$ spaces has norm decaying like $\lambda^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ at energy $\lambda$. There are several works proving analogous high-frequency estimates for magnetic Schr\"odinger operators, with large long or short range potentials, in dimensions $n \geq 3$. We prove that the same estimates remain valid in all dimensions $n \geq 2$.

Restriction analysis of lambda EMBL3 background recombinants: occurrence of lambda phages carrying a head to tail oriented left arm DNA sequence.

Eight representative recombinant background clones of lambda EMBL3 were analysed using KpnI, BamHI, SalI, EcoRI and HindIII digestion. We found that lambda EMBL3 carries its own left arm in the BamHI cloning site. In the way, recombinant molecules were found to be generated which can grow on Escherichia coli strain NM539. In all cases analysed, the left arm DNA was inserted in a head to tail orientation. Seven clones carried a restored BamHI site at the cos site-BamHI site connection. In the region where the inserted left arm and the right arm were ligated, BamHI cloning produces a large palindromic sequence consisting of two polylinkers. Evidence for the decays of and *

Abstract We study the hadronic decays of to the final states and , using an annihilation data sample of 567 pb-1 taken at a center-of-mass energy of 4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We find evidence for the decays and with statistical significance of and , respectively. Normalizing to the reference decays and , we obtain the ratios of the branching fractions and to be and , respectively. The upper limits at the 90% confidence level are set to be and . Using BESIII measurements of the branching fractions of the reference decays, we determine % (<0.68%) and % (<1.9%). Here, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.
