Seesaw Dirac neutrino mass through dimension-six operators

In this paper, a follow-up of [S. C. Chuliá, R. Srivastava, and J. W. F. Valle, Phys. Lett. B 781, 122 (2018)], we describe the many pathways to generate Dirac neutrino mass through dimension-six operators. By using only the standard model Higgs doublet in the external legs, one gets a unique operator 1Λ2L¯Φ¯Φ¯ΦνR. In contrast, the presence of new scalars implies new possible field contractions, which greatly increase the number of possibilities. Here, we study in detail the simplest ones, involving SU(2)L singlets, doublets, and triplets. The extra symmetries needed to ensure the Dirac nature of neutrinos can also be responsible for stabilizing dark matter.
Direct Observation of the StrangebBaryonΞb−
2007
We report the first direct observation of the strange b baryon Xi(b)- (Xi(b)+). We reconstruct the decay Xi(b)- -->J/psiXi-, with J/psi-->mu+mu-, and Xi--->Lambdapi--->ppi-pi- in pp collisions at square root of s =1.96 TeV. Using 1.3 fb(-1) of data collected by the D0 detector, we observe 15.2 +/- 4.4(stat)(-0.4)(+1.9)(syst) Xi(b)- candidates at a mass of 5.774 +/- 0.011(stat) +/- 0.015(syst) GeV. The significance of the observed signal is 5.5 sigma, equivalent to a probability of 3.3 x 10(-8) of it arising from a background fluctuation. Λc± production in pp collisions with a new fragmentation function

We study inclusive ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$-baryon production in $pp$ collisions in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme and compare with data from the LHCb, ALICE, and CMS collaborations. We perform a new fit of the $c\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}$ fragmentation function combining ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ data from OPAL and Belle. The agreement with LHC data is slightly worse compared with a calculation using an older fragmentation function, and the tension between different determinations of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ production cross sections from the LHC…
Analyzing lepton flavor universality in the decays Λb→Λc(*)(12±,32−)+ℓν¯ℓ

Lepton flavor universality can be tested in the semileptonic decays Λb→Λc(*), where Λc(*) denotes either the ground state Λc(2286) (with JP=1/2+) or its orbital excitations Λc(2595) (with JP=1/2−) and Λc(2625) (with JP=3/2−). We calculate the differential decay rates as well as the branching fractions of these decays for both tauonic and muonic modes with form factors obtained from a covariant confined quark model previously developed by us. We present results for the rate ratios of the tauonic and muonic modes which provide important tests of lepton flavor universality in forthcoming experiments.
Observation of the Doubly StrangebBaryonΩb−
2008
We report the observation of the doubly strange b baryon Omega(-)(b) in the decay channel Omega(-)(b) -> J/psi Omega(-), with J/psi -> mu(+)mu(-) and Omega(-) -> Lambda K- -> (p pi(-))K-, in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV. Using approximately 1.3 fb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, we observe 17.8 +/- 4.9(stat) +/- 0.8(syst) Omega(-)(b) signal events at a mass of 6.165 +/- 0.010(stat) +/- 0.013(syst) GeV. The significance of the observed signal is 5.4 sigma, corresponding to a probability of 6.7 x 10(-8) of it arising from a background fluctuation.
Understanding the nature ofΛ(1405)through Regge physics

It appears that there are two resonances with ${J}^{P}=1/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ quantum numbers in the energy region near the $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}(1405)$ hyperon. The nature of these states is a topic of current debate. To provide further insight we use Regge phenomenology to access how these two resonances fit the established hyperon spectrum. We find that only one of these resonances is compatible with a three-quark state.
Evidence for Exotic Hadron Contributions toΛb0→J/ψpπ−Decays

A full amplitude analysis of $\Lambda_b^0 \to J/\psi p \pi^-$ decays is performed with a data sample acquired with the LHCb detector from 7 and 8 TeV $pp$ collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb$^{-1}$. A significantly better description of the data is achieved when, in addition to the previously observed nucleon excitations $N\to p\pi^-$, either the $P_c(4380)^+$ and $P_c(4450)^+\to J/\psi p$ states, previously observed in $\Lambda_b^0 \to J/\psi p K^-$ decays, or the $Z_c(4200)^-\to J/\psi \pi^-$ state, previously reported in $B^0 \to J/\psi K^+ \pi^-$ decays, or all three, are included in the amplitude models. Search for Scalar Neutrino Superpartners ine+μFinal States inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV

We report a search for R-parity-violating production and decay of sneutrino particles in the e mu final state with 1.04 +/- 0.06 fb(-1) of data collected with the D-0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in 2002-2006. Good agreement between the data and the standard model prediction is observed. With no evidence for new physics, we set limits on the R-parity-violating couplings lambda'(311) and lambda(312) as a function of the sneutrino mass.
Λb→J/ψK0Λreaction and a hidden-charm pentaquark state with strangeness

We study the Lambda(b) -> J/psi K-0 Lambda reaction considering both the K-0 Lambda interaction with its coupled channels and the J/psi Lambda interaction. The latter is described by taking into account the fact that there are predictions for a hidden-charm state with strangeness that couples to J/psi Lambda By using the coupling of the resonance to J/psi Lambda from these predictions, we show that a neat peak can be observed in the J/psi Lambda invariant mass distribution, rather stable under changes of unknown magnitudes. In some cases, one finds a dip structure associated to that state, but a signal of the state shows up in the J/psi Lambda spectrum.
