Recent Developments in Chiral Dynamics of Hadrons and Hadrons in Nuclei

In this talk I present recent developments in the field of hadronic physics and hadrons in the nuclear medium. I review the unitary chiral approach to meson baryon interaction and address the topics of the two dynamically generated $\Lambda(1405)$ resonances, with experiments testing it, the $\Lambda(1520)$ and $\Delta(1700)$ resonances, plus the $\Lambda(1520)$, $\Sigma(1385)$ and $\omega$ in the nuclear medium.
Exclusive non-leptonic charm baryon decays

We present a spectator quark model calculation of the Cabibbo-enhanced non-leptonic decays of the lowest lying charm baryons Λc, Ξc and Ωc decaying into non-charm ground state baryons and mesons. We employ covariant quark model wave functions to describe the ground state baryons and mesons. They are obtained by boosting rest frame wave functions to equal velocity frames. The non-leptonic decay amplitudes are then obtained in terms of two wave function overlap parameters which we fit to the experimental data. Semi-leptonic charm baryon decays in the relativistic spectator quark model

We calculate the exclusive semi-leptonic charm baryon decays of the lowest lying charm baryon states into the ground state strangeness baryons using the covariant spectator quark model approach. We present results on rates,q 2- andE l -spectra as well as on the angular decay distribution in the cascade decay $$\Omega _c \to \Omega ( \to \Xi \pi ,\Lambda {\rm K})$$ .
Decay modes of sigma and lambda hypernuclei

Abstract A review is presented of the problem of Σ and Λ decay in nuclei. By means of handy, yet reliable approximations, an approach to Σ decay is developed which allows a clear insight into the different aspects of the problem. The role of nuclear polarization, due to the spin-isospin ΣN → ΛN interaction, in the reduction of the Σ widths is discussed. Many experimentally observable Σ hypernuclei are predicted by showing that their widths are narrower than the separation energies between levels. The mesonic and non-mesonic decays of Λ hypernuclei are analyzed. The non-mesonic width is fairly well reproduced by simplified models for the ΛN → NN weak transition, but quantities like the ratio…
Theoretical study of the Ξ(1620) and Ξ(1690) resonances in Ξc→π+MB decays

Nonleptonic weak decays of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Xi}}}_{c}$ into ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and a meson $(M)$-baryon $(B)$ final state, $MB$, are analyzed from the viewpoint of probing $S=\ensuremath{-}2$ baryon resonances, i.e., $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Xi}}(1620)$ and $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Xi}}(1690)$, of which spin-parity and other properties are not well known. We argue that the weak decay of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Xi}}}_{c}$ is dominated by a single quark-line diagram, preferred by the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa coefficient, color recombination factor, the diquark correlation, and the kinematical condition. Spectra and correlations of Λ andΛ¯produced in 340-GeV/cΣ−+Cand 260-GeV/cn+Cinteractions

We have measured the production of strange baryons and antibaryons in 340-GeV/c Sigma /sup -/+C and 260-GeV/c n+C interactions. The single x/sub F/ distributions show the expected leading particle effect, and the single p/sub t//sup 2/ distributions show a distinct nonthermal behavior. The x/sub F/ distributions of Lambda - Lambda pairs indicate two different phase space distributions for the two coincident baryons. On the other hand two Lambda 's show identical distributions. Momentum conservation during the formation process may represent a significant source for the observed behavior.
Observation of a cross-section enhancement near mass threshold in e + e - → Λ Λ

The process e(+)e(-) -> Lambda(Lambda) over bar is studied using data samples at root s = 2.2324, 2.400, 2.800 and 3.080 GeV collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross section is measured at root s = 2.2324 GeV, which is 1.0 MeVabove the Lambda(Lambda) over bar mass threshold, to be 305 +/- 45(-36)(+66) pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The cross section near threshold is larger than that expected from theory, which predicts the cross section to vanish at threshold. Little Randall-Sundrum models:ϵKstrikes again

A detailed phenomenological analysis of neutral kaon mixing in ``little Randall-Sundrum'' models is presented. It is shown that the constraints arising from the $CP$-violating quantity ${ϵ}_{K}$ can, depending on the value of the ultraviolet cutoff, be even stronger than in the original Randall-Sundrum scenario addressing the hierarchy problem up to the Planck scale. The origin of the enhancement is explained, and a bound ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{\mathrm{UV}}g\mathrm{\text{several}}$ ${10}^{3}\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ is derived, below which vast corrections to ${ϵ}_{K}$ are generically unavoidable. Measuring Microlensing using Spectra of Multiply Lensed Quasars

We report on a program of spectroscopic observations of gravitationally-lensed QSOs with multiple images. We seek to establish whether microlensing is occurring in each QSO image using only single-epoch observations. We calculate flux ratios for the cores of emission lines in image pairs to set a baseline for no microlensing. The offset of the continuum flux ratios relative to this baseline yields the microlensing magnification free from extinction, as extinction affects the continuum and the lines equally. When we find chromatic microlensing, we attempt to constrain the size of the QSO accretion disk. SDSSJ1004+4112 and HE1104-1805 show chromatic microlensing with amplitudes $0.2< |\Delta …
