Coding emotions in computer-mediated communication: the example of YouTube comments

Computer-mediated communication (CMC) is essentially text-based. This is generally said to result in a “paucity of paralinguistic and non-linguistic cues” (Bieswanger, 2013: 468), but it is also considered to be the main reason for the development of other characteristic non-verbal modalities, such as emoticons and emoji. How are, then, emotions expressed in such a specific context? Are verbal modalities as limited as they are said to be? Do non-verbal modalities complete or replace them? This paper will try to answer those questions using discourse analysis tools applied to a sample of comments on a YouTube video.

Some IDPs can function as either transient or permanent binders of other proteins and may interact with an array of ligands by adopting different conformations. A novel outer membrane lipoprotein, bacterial interleukin receptor I (BilRI) of the opportunistic oral pathogen Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans binds a key gatekeeper proinflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-1b. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly malignant tumor that responds very poorly to existing therapies, most probably due to its extraordinary inter- and intra-tumor molecular heterogeneity. The modest therapeutic response to molecular targeted agents underlines the need for new therapeutic approaches for HCC. In our study, we took advantage of well-characterized human HCC cell lines, differing in transcriptomic subtypes, DNA mutation and amplification alterations, reflecting the heterogeneity of primary HCCs, to provide a preclinical evaluation of the specific heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) inhibitor AUY922 (luminespib). International audience; At Pantelleria, peralkaline silicic magmas were erupted across a range of eruptive typologies and magnitudes: pyroclastic flows, Plinian to strombolian pumice fallout and lava flows. In this paper we focus on the intermediate cycle of eruptive activity which is bracketed by ignimbrite units slightly older than the two caldera collapses which marked the volcanological activity of the island. This age interval (180-85 ka) was punctuated by six ignimbrite-forming eruptions (silicic and variably peralkaline) for a cumulative erupted magma volume of approximately 6 km3 dense rock equivalent. Pericentriskā heterohromatīna loma genoma telpiskajā organizācijā un regulācijā krūts vēža diferencēšanās komitācijā

Darba mērķis bija izpētīt pericentriskā heterohromatīna (PHH) iespējamas strukturālas un transkripcijas izmaiņas diferenciācijas sākuma stadijā (komitācijā) ar heregulīnu (HRG) aktivētās MCF-7 krūts vēža šūnās. Modelis tika testēts pēc agrās stresa atbildes gēnu un pericentrisko satelītu DNS transkripcijas dinamikas izmaiņas MCF-7 šūnās pēc HRG aktivācijas izmantojot PĶR. PHH topoloģiju un organizāciju pētīja ar immunofluorescences, konfokālās mikroskopijas un attēlu analīzes metodēm. Tika atklāts, ka PHH klasterizācija ir proporcionāla centromēru skaitam un to izkārtojums raksturojas ar spēka likumsakarību. HRG izsauc PHH strauju de-klasterizāciju. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie dominacji historii w stosunkach polsko-niemieckich od przełomu lat 80. i 90. XX w. po czasy współczesne. Trzydzieści minionych lat podzielono na cztery podokresy i zaprezentowano dominujące w nich kwestie historyczne. Wybrane przykłady problemów z przeszłości i debaty, jakie toczyły i toczą się nadal na ich temat, świadczą dobitnie o ich ogromnym znaczeniu dla rozwoju relacji między Polakami a Niemcami. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono kwestii budowy w Niemczech pomnika polskich ofi ar II wojny światowej.
