Moreover, the combination of these experiences with subtle alterations in neurodevelopment may contribute to the emergence of psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia. Fast synaptic transmission requires a rapid clearance of the released neurotransmitter from the extracellular space. Glial glutamate transporters (excitatory amino acid transporters, EAATs) strongly contribute to glutamate removal. In this work, we investigated the paired-pulse plasticity of synaptically activated, glutamate transporter-mediated currents (STCs) in cortical layer 2/3 astrocytes. Modulation of NMDA receptor function by cyclic AMP in cerebellar neurones in culture

The signal transduction pathways involved in NMDA receptor modulation by other receptors remain unclear. cAMP could be involved in this modulation. The aim of this work was to analyse the contribution of cAMP to NMDA receptor modulation in cerebellar neurones in culture. Forskolin increases cAMP and results in increased intracellular calcium and cGMP that are prevented by blocking NMDA receptors. Similar effects were induced by two cAMP analogues, indicating that cAMP leads to NMDA receptor activation. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt pēctrimdas fenomenu kā neomītisku konstrukciju Agates Nesaules romānā “Zudušie saulgrieži” (2018) un Ināras Vērzemnieks romānā “Starp dzīvajiem un mirušajiem” (2017). Aplūkots atgriešanās motīvs simboliskā dzimtenē caur ēdienu un dzērienu zīmju sistēmu daiļliteratūras tekstā. Īpaša uzmanība ir veltīta pēctrimdas vēstījumam, kur trimda un pēctrimda kļūst par savdabīgu bināro opozīciju abu darbu struktūrā. Protagonisti ir izraidīti no dzimtenes (centra), lai kādreiz atgrieztos no svešatnes (klejojuma) simboliskās mājās. Kopumā abi prozas darbi aktualizē traumu, nostaļģiju un atmiņas.

Activation of metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) with (1S,3R)-1-aminocyclopentane-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (ACPD) elicited in the frontal or occipital pole of the intact cerebral cortex preparation of the newborn mouse (P0-P3) a transient oscillatory field potential activity in the frequency range of 11-14Hz. Latviešu uzņēmējdarbība ASV un Kanādā: atspoguļojums trimdas presē (1949.-1959.g.)

Bakalaura darba mērķis bija izpētīt latviešu uzņēmējdarbības atspoguļojumu latviešu trimdas presē laikā no 1949. gada līdz 1959. gadam, veicot izmantotā materiāla klasificēšanu pēc reģionālajiem (ASV gadījuma) un darbības sektoru principiem (Kanādas gadījumā). Darba izstrādes procesā periodiskajos izdevumos kopumā tika konstatēti 142 latviešu saimnieciskie pasākumi, no tiem 76 bijuši ASV un 66 – Kanādā. Tika noskaidrots, ka gan ASV, gan Kanādā latviešu uzņēmumi līdzīgās proporcijās pārstāvējuši terciāro (pakalpojumi) un sekundāro (rūpniecība un amatniecība) sektoru.
