Clinical impact of the immunome in lymphoid malignancies: the role of Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells

The better definition of the mutual sustainment between neoplastic cells and immune system has been translated from the bench to the bedside acquiring value as prognostic factor. Additionally, it represents a promising tool for improving therapeutic strategies. In this context, myeloid-derived suppressor cells have gained a central role in tumor developing with consequent therapeutic implications. In this review, we will focus on the biological and clinical impact of the study of myeloid-derived suppressor cells in the settings of lymphoid malignancies.
Multidimensional scaling and stock location assignment in a warehouse: an application

By means of an application, in the present paper, the suitability of a multivariate statistical methodology, as multidimensional scaling (MDS), to solve an optimization problem is shown. In particular, considering the stock location assignment problem in the warehouse of a supermarket chain, the solution gained by applying MDS to a set of seven variables is compared with the one obtainable by considering the usual techniques applied in this context. A wide discussion of results is reported.

A limitation to 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) anti-cancer efficacy relies on the secretion of IL-1β by myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) according to a previous pre-clinical report. The release of mature IL-1β originates from 5 FU mediated NLRP3 activation with increased caspase-1 activity in MDSC and sustains tumor growth recovery in 5 FU treated mice. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) belongs to omega-3 fatty acid family and harbors both anti cancer and anti inflammatory properties which might could improve 5 FU chemotherapy. Proton transverse-spin azimuthal asymmetries are extracted from the COMPASS 2010 semi-inclusive hadron measurements in deep inelastic muon-nucleon scattering in those four regions of the photon virtuality $Q^2$, which correspond to the four regions of the di-muon mass $\sqrt{Q^2}$ used in the ongoing analysis of the COMPASS Drell-Yan measurements. This allows for a future direct comparison of the nucleon transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions extracted from these two alternative measurements. In times of educational expansion, privileged families are looking for new strategies of distinction. Referring to Pierre Bourdieu���s theory of distinction, we argue that choosing Latin at school ��� a language that is no longer spoken and therefore has no direct value ��� is one of the strategies of privileged families to set themselves apart from less privileged families. Based on two surveys we conducted at German schools, the paper analyzes the relationship between parents��� educational background and the probability that their child will learn Latin. Mana bakalaura darba mērķis ir izzināt, cik efektīvas ir vācu valodas mācības tiešsaistē no studentu un skolnieku puses. Šim nolūkam tiek tuvāk pētīts, kādas ir galvenās un visbiežāk sastopamās problēmas tiešsaistes apmācībās. Šīs pētījums balstās uz studentu un skolnieku aptaujas rezultātiem, pasniedzēju komentāriem, kā arī tiešsaistes mācību stundās izmantotiem materiāliem. Pētījuma gaitā tika secināts, ka lielākajai daļai studentu un skolnieku online mācības rada būtiskas problēmas, piemēram, mācību process aizkavējas (ir lēnāks), mācību materiāla apguvē ir vērojamas nepilnības, skolēniem un studentiem ir grūti ilgstoši koncentrēties.

Every learner has the right to acquire a good pronunciation, but unfortunately today, phonetics still plays a secondary role to grammar and vocabulary training in the classroom. Furthermore, it is primarily treated from an orthoepic point of view. This contribution presents a contrastive approach to phonetics. It explains why learners have a “foreign accent” and what contrastive pronunciation training should include as well as precisely what contrastive listening, contrastive background knowledge and contrastive exercises mean. It is limited to learners of German as a foreign language with Italian as their mother tongue.
