A UHPLC-UV Method to Quantify Skin Deposition and Transdermal Permeation of Tizanidine Hydrochloride

Tizanidine hydrochloride is an α2-adrenergic agonist used for the symptomatic relief of spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis or with spinal cord injury or disease. The objective of this study was to develop an isocratic, robust and sensitive ultra-high performance liquid chromatography method using UV detection for use in a project to develop a transdermal therapeutic system to deliver tizanidine across the skin. Isocratic separation was achieved using a C18 column and a mobile phase comprising a 80:20 mixture of 0.004% trifluoroacetic acid in water and MeCN (pH* 3.2) at a flow rate of 0.2 mL min(-1) Tizanidine eluted at 1.499 min and the total run time was 2 min. The European consumers’ understanding and perceptions of the “organic” food regime

This paper explores consumer understanding and perception of organic food, with specific reference to the relatively new concept of organic farmed salmon. Key themes associated with the term “organic” and its meaning, as determined by consumers, are explored and the role of labelling and regulatory authorities considered. Focus groups in five countries (UK, Germany, Spain, Norway and France) consisting of 196 participants showed that most consumers are confused about the meaning of the term organic and are largely unaware of the organic certification and labelling process. Influence of sugar and fat contents on preference for cream cheese: A preliminary study

Abstract In order to assess the importance of fat and sugar in acceptability of semi-solid French cream cheese, 30 subjects gave a hedonic judgement, after consumption, for three formulations (150 g) varying in fat content which they were required to sweeten and for nine small previously sweetened samples (30 g). Subjects participated in five laboratory meals, cream cheese being the third part of a meal. After this period, the subjects filled out a questionnaire measuring attitudes, beliefs and intention of behaviour with regard to consumption of cream cheese. A promising alternative to classical antibiotics are antimicrobial peptides and their synthetic mimics (smAMPs) that supposedly act directly on membranes. For a more successful design of smAMPs, we need to know how the type of interaction with the membrane determines the type of membrane perturbation. Sport has been promoted as a means of increasing the social inclusion of persons with intellectual disabilities. Suitable tools for evaluating this claim are not readily available. The aim of this study was to develop a self-report tool for use by people with intellectual disabilities regarding the social inclusion they experience in sport and in the community. A three-phase process was used. In the first phase an item bank of questionnaire items was created and field-tested with 111 participants. Abstract Purpose To provide knowledge about the recovery process during rehabilitation and two years later by exploring the manifestation of agency and spheres of meaning in the narratives of participants in a national rehabilitation course. Material and methods The subjects of the study were four participants in a national rehabilitation course, whose burnout levels had decreased between the initial and follow-up periods of the course.
