We read with great interest the original article entitled “Prognostic significance of the renal resistive index in the primary prevention of type II diabetes” by Delsart et al1 In this issue of The Journal, the authors interestingly underlined the prognostic value of renal resistive index (RRI) in diabetic subjects and its role as an independent predictor of a first cardiovascular or renal event. Inverse cancer comorbidity: a serendipitous opportunity to gain insight into CNS disorders

Inverse comorbidity is a lower-than-expected probability of disease occuring in individuals who have been diagnosed with other medical conditions. Emerging evidence points to inverse cancer comorbidity in people with certain CNS disorders. In this Opinion article, we discuss the evidence for this intriguing association and possible underlying mechanisms. We believe that this association is an invaluable opportunity to gain insight into the pathogenesis of these diseases, and understanding why certain individuals with CNS disorders are protected against many different types of cancer could help to develop new and improved treatments.

Surgical management of ameloblastoma. Review of literature

Background Ameloblastoma is an odontogenic tumor that represents 1% of all tumors in the oral cavity and it is clinically classified in three types. Currently, solid and multi-cystic are considered locally aggressive, with high recurrence rates with conservative treatment. Material and methods Objective of the present review is to assess whether the surgical treatment should be conservative or radical. English articles published between 2009-2014, with available summary and in humans were included.
