Current constraints on early and stressed dark energy models and future 21 cm perspectives
2014
Despite the great progress of current cosmological measurements, the nature of the dominant component of the universe, coined dark energy, is still an open question. Early Dark Energy is a possible candidate which may also alleviate some fine tuning issues of the standard paradigm. Using the latest available cosmological data, we find that the 95% CL upper bound on the early dark energy density parameter is $\Omega_{\textrm{eDE}}$. On the other hand, the dark energy component may be a stressed and inhomogeneous fluid. If this is the case, the effective sound speed and the viscosity parameters are unconstrained by current data. Future omniscope-like $21$cm surveys, combined with present CMB …
Current status of modified gravity
2014
We revisit the cosmological viability of the Hu-Sawicki modified gravity scenario. The impact of such a modification on the different cosmological observables, including gravitational waves, is carefully described. The most recent cosmological data, as well as constraints on the relationship between the clustering parameter ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{8}$ and the current matter mass-energy density ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Omega}}}_{m}$ from cluster number counts and weak lensing tomography, are considered in our numerical calculations. The strongest bound we find is $|{f}_{R0}|l3.7\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}6}$ at 95% C.L. Forthcoming cluster surveys covering $10\text{ …
Measurement of the polarization of $$\Lambda ^0 , \overline \Lambda ^0 , \Sigma ^ + $$ and ?? produced in a ?? beam of 330 GeV/c
1995
The polarization of Lambda0 , AntiLambda0 , Sigma+ and Xi- inclusively produced in Sigma- induced interactions at 330 GeV has been measured in the experiment WA89 at CERN. This is the first measurement of polarization of baryons produced by a hyperon beam. No polarization of AntiLambda is observed, as was also the case in proton beam data. At transverse momenta of about 1~GeV/c Lambda0 and Sigma+ show little polarization, significantly lower than in the proton beam data, while Xi- have a polarization comparable to the polarization of Lambda0 produced in proton beams. The polarization of Lambda0, AntiLambda0, Sigma+ and Xi- inclusively produced in Sigma- induced interactions at 330 GeV has b…
Design, Construction and Performance Tests of a Prototype MicroMegas Chamber with Two Readout Planes in a Common Gas Volume
2016
In this paper, the design and the performance of a prototype detector based on MicroMegas technology with two detection planes in a common gas volume is discussed. The detector is suited for the forward region of LHC detectors, addressing the high-rate environment and limited available space. Each detection plane has an active area of 9x9 cm^2 with a two-dimensional strip readout and is separated by a common gas region with a height of 14 mm. A micro-mesh, working as a cathode, is placed in the middle of the common gas volume separating it into two individual cells. This setup allows for an angle reconstruction of incoming particles with a precision of 2 mrad. Since this design reduces the …
The role of f0(1710) in the ϕω threshold peak of J/Ψ→γϕω
2013
Abstract We study the process J / Ψ → γ ϕ ω , measured by the BES experiment, where a neat peak close to the ϕω threshold is observed and is associated to a scalar meson resonance around 1800 MeV. We make the observation that a scalar resonance coupling to ϕω unavoidably couples strongly to K K ¯ , but no trace of a peak is seen in the K K ¯ spectrum of the J / Ψ → γ K K ¯ at this energy. This serves us to rule out the interpretation of the observed peak as a signal of a new resonance. After this is done, a thorough study is performed on the production of a pair of vector mesons and how its interaction leads necessarily to a peak in the J / Ψ → γ ϕ ω reaction close to the ϕω threshold, due …
Measurement of time dependentCPasymmetry parameters inB0meson decays toωKS0,η′K0, andπ0KS0
2009
We present measurements of the time-dependent CP-violation parameters S and C in the decays B-0 -> omega K-S(0), B-0 -> eta'K-0, reconstructed as eta'K-S(0) and eta'K-L(0), and B-0 -> pi K-0(S)0. The data sample corresponds to the full BABAR dataset of 467 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The results are S-omega KS0 = 0.55(-0.29)(+0.26) +/- 0.02, C-omega KS0 = 0.52(-0.20)(+0.22) +/- 0.03, S-eta'K0 = 0.57 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.02, C-eta'K0 = 0.08 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.02, S-pi 0KS0 = 0.55 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.03, and C-pi 0KS0 = 0.13 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.03, where the first errors are statistical and the second systemati…
Study of thee+e−→π+π−π0process using initial state radiation withBABAR
2004
The process e+e- --> pi+ pi- pi0 gamma has been studied at a center-of-mass energy near the Y(4S) resonance using a 89.3 fb-1 data sample collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II collider. From the measured 3pi mass spectrum we have obtained the products of branching fractions for the omega and phi mesons, B(omega --> e+e-)B(omega --> 3pi)=(6.70 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.27)10-5 and B(phi --> e+e-)B(phi --> 3pi)=(4.30 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.21)10-5, and evaluated the e+e- --> pi+ pi- pi0 cross section for the e+e- center-of-mass energy range 1.05 to 3.00 GeV. About 900 e+e- --> J/psi gamma --> pi+ pi- pi0 gamma events have been selected and the branching fraction B(J/psi --> pi+ pi- pi0)=(2.18 +/- 0.19…
Observation ofB+→ηρ+and search forB0decays toη′η,ηπ0,η′π0, andωπ0
2008
We present measurements of branching fractions for five B-meson decays to two-body charmless final states. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 459x10{sup 6} BB pairs. The results for branching fractions are, in units of 10{sup -6} (upper limits at 90% C.L.), B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{rho}{sup +})=9.9{+-}1.2{+-}0.8, B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{eta})=0.5{+-}0.4{+-}0.1(<1.2), B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{pi}{sup 0})=0.9{+-}0.4{+-}0.1(<1.5), B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{pi}{sup 0})=0.9{+-}0.4{+-}0.1(<1.5), and B(B{sup 0}{yields}{omega}{pi}{sup 0})=0.07{+-}0.26{+-}0.02(<0.5). The first error quoted is statistical and the second systemati…
Study of the J/ψ→ϕ(ω)f2(1270), J/ψ→ϕ(ω)f2′(1525) and J/ψ→K∗0(892)K¯2∗0(1430) decays
2009
Abstract We present an approach to study the decay modes of the J / ψ into a vector meson and a tensor meson, taking into account the nature of the f 2 ( 1270 ) , f 2 ′ ( 1525 ) , K ¯ 2 ∗ 0 ( 1430 ) resonances as dynamically generated states from the vector meson-vector meson interaction. We evaluate four ratios of partial decay widths in terms of a flavor dependent OZI breaking parameter and the results obtained compare favorably with experiment, although the experimental uncertainties are still large. Further refinements of the data would provide a more stringent test on the theoretical approach. The fit to the data is possible due to the particular strength and sign of the couplings of t…
Second-forbidden nonunique $$\beta ^-$$ decays of $$^{59,60}$$Fe:possible candidates for $$g_{\mathrm{A}}$$ sensitive electron spectral-shape measure…
2021
In this work, we present a theoretical study of the electron spectral shapes for the second-forbidden nonunique $\beta^-$-decay transitions $^{59}\textrm{Fe}(3/2^-)\to\,^{59}\textrm{Co}(7/2^-)$ and $^{60}\textrm{Fe}(0^+)\to\,^{60}\textrm{Co}(2^+)$ in the framework of the nuclear shell model. We have computed the involved wave functions by carrying out a complete $0\hbar\omega$ calculation in the full $fp$ model space using the KB3G and GXPF1A effective interactions. When compared with the available data, these interactions predict the low-energy spectra and electromagnetic properties of the involved nuclei quite successfully. This success paves the way for the computations of the $\beta$-de…
