Calculation of the wetting parameter from a cluster model in the framework of nanothermodynamics

The critical wetting parameter ${\ensuremath{\omega}}_{c}$ determines the strength of interfacial fluctuations in critical wetting transitions. In this Brief Report, we calculate ${\ensuremath{\omega}}_{c}$ from considerations on critical liquid clusters inside a vapor phase. The starting point is a cluster model developed by Hill and Chamberlin in the framework of nanothermodynamics [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 95, 12779 (1998)]. Our calculations yield results for ${\ensuremath{\omega}}_{c}$ between 0.52 and 1.00, depending on the degrees of freedom considered. Measurements of the complex ac conductivity are reported for a single crystal of ${\mathrm{La}}_{2}$${\mathrm{CuO}}_{4}$ for frequencies ${10}^{2}$\ensuremath{\le}\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\le}${10}^{9}$ Hz and temperatures 25\ensuremath{\le}T\ensuremath{\le}300 K. The conductivity follows a power-law behavior ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\omega}}}^{\mathit{s}}$ with the frequency exponent s independent of temperature and independent of frequency. However, the hopping transport is strongly anisotropic, with s\ensuremath{\approxeq}0.75 within the ${\mathrm{CuO}}_{2}$ planes and s\ensuremath{\approxeq}0.25 perpendicular to the planes.

The laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) A {sup 1{Sigma}+}-b {sup 3{Pi}{yields}}X {sup 1{Sigma}+} spectra of the KCs molecule were recorded in a near infrared region by a Fourier-transform spectrometer with a resolution of 0.03 cm{sup -1}. Overall more than 200 collisionally enhanced LIF spectra were rotationally assigned to {sup 39}K{sup 133}Cs and {sup 41}K{sup 133}Cs isotopomers yielding more than 3400 rovibronic term values of the strongly mixed singlet A {sup 1{Sigma}+} and triplet b {sup 3{Pi}} states with the uncertainty of 0.003-0.01 cm{sup -1}. The Muon g-2 Experiment at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) has measured the muon anomalous precession frequency $\omega_a$ to an uncertainty of 434 parts per billion (ppb), statistical, and 56 ppb, systematic, with data collected in four storage ring configurations during its first physics run in 2018. When combined with a precision measurement of the magnetic field of the experiment's muon storage ring, the precession frequency measurement determines a muon magnetic anomaly of $a_{\mu}({\rm FNAL}) = 116\,592\,040(54) \times 10^{-11}$ (0.46 ppm). For the investigation of megacity emission development and the impact outside the source region, mobile aerosol and trace gas measurements were carried out in the Paris metropolitan area between 1 July and 31 July 2009 (summer conditions) and 15 January and 15 February 2010 (winter conditions) in the framework of the European Union FP7 MEGAPOLI project.
