Density-Functional Theory on Graphs

The principles of density-functional theory are studied for finite lattice systems represented by graphs. Surprisingly, the fundamental Hohenberg–Kohn theorem is found void, in general, while many insights into the topological structure of the density-potential mapping can be won. We give precise conditions for a ground state to be uniquely v-representable and are able to prove that this property holds for almost all densities. A set of examples illustrates the theory and demonstrates the non-convexity of the pure-state constrained-search functional. peerReviewed

(1) Background: This study aimed to compare key variables of paddle stroke measured by a commercial Trainesense SmartPaddle® against the strain-gauge shaft and investigate how these variables are associated with the velocity of the boat among national-level canoe polo players. (2) Methods: This study involved 14 Finnish national-level canoe polo players. The measurement protocol consisted of three different paddling velocities, which were performed in indoor swimming pools. Thermal structure, light attenuation, and chlorophyll-a dynamics within the upper 100 m at the northern and southern ends of Lake Tanganyika were measured from August 1995–July 1996. Pronounced variability of thermal structure in time, depth and region were observed. During the dry windy season (June–September), the water column in the south was largely isothermal down to 100 m, while in the north stratification was detectable. Sub- to Super-Poissonian crossover of current noise in helical edge states coupled to a spin impurity in a magnetic field

Edge states of two-dimensional topological insulators are helical and single-particle backscattering is prohibited by time-reversal symmetry. In this work, we show that an isotropic exchange coupling of helical edge states (HES) to a spin 1/2 impurity subjected to a magnetic field results in characteristic backscattering current noise (BCN) as a function of bias voltage and tilt angle between the direction of the magnetic field and the quantization axis of the HES. In particular, we find transitions from sub-Poissonian (antibunching) to super-Poissonian (bunching) behavior as a direct consequence of the helicity of the edge state electrons. Warmer climates boost cyanobacterial dominance in shallow lakes

Dominance by cyanobacteria hampers human use of lakes and reservoirs worldwide. Previous studies indicate that excessive nutrient loading and warmer conditions promote dominance by cyanobacteria, but evidence from global scale field data has so far been scarce. Our analysis, based on a study of 143 lakes along a latitudinal transect ranging from subarctic Europe to southern South America, shows that although warmer climates do not result in higher overall phytoplankton biomass, the percentage of the total phytoplankton biovolume attributable to cyanobacteria increases steeply with temperature. Abstract We studied the effect of leukotriene D(4) (LTD(4)) on a human bronchial epithelial cell line (16HBE) overexpressing the cysteinyl leukotriene (CysLT) (1) receptor (HBECysLT(1)R), looking at the associated signal transduction mechanisms as well as at effects on inflammatory cell adhesion. Kvalifikācijas darba mērķis ir izstrādāt programmatūras izstrādes pārvaldības sistēmu, kurā varētu ērti pārvaldīt programmatūras izstrādi, redzot aktīvos uzdevumus, un uzskaitīt kļūdas programmatūrā un uzskaitīt to labošanu. Sistēmas tīmekļa API serviss tika izstrādāts izmantojot ASP.NET CORE 5 arhitektūru, kur tika izmantota C# valoda, un sistēmas tīmekļa lietotne tika izstrādāta izmantojot Angular 11 ietvaru, kā arī papildus programmatūras izstrādātājiem tika izveidots “Visual Studio Code” paplašinājums, kurā programmatūras izstrādāji var ērti mainīt uzdevumu, vai kļūdu statusu.
