Tuire Ranta-Meyer tutki väitöskirjassaan suomalaisessa musiikkielämässä 1900-luvun alkupuolella vaikuttanutta säveltäjä Erkki Melartinia (1875 - 1937) eri rooleissaan ja aikakautensa musiikillisessa yhteiskunnassa. Säveltäjäntyönsä lisäksi Melartin toimi kapellimestarina ja pitkäaikaisena konservatorion johtajana, musiikinteorian ja sävellyksenopettajana sekä erilaisten järjestöjen ja asiantuntijalautakuntien jäsenenä. Context and objective: Recent studies suggested that sensory sensitivity could be linked to food neophobia, described as the reluctance to eat, or the avoidance of, new foods. The objective of the present study was twofold. Firstly, this study aimed at assessing the links between smell reactivity and taste reactivity in children. This article examines the relationship between fiction and reality in the opera according to the approach of Rousseau and Diderot. The ambiguous and contradictory definition of this relationship brought Rousseau to remove the singing from the opera and to invent a new genre, the "mélodrame". It was a very paradoxical solution that Diderot could have shared as this article tries to prove.
