Generalized Parton Distributions, Analyticity and Crossing
2005
A simple procedure for the derivation of Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) is suggested. Factorization of the perturbative and non-perturbative parts of the scattering amplitude is not assumed. Instead, GPDs are related, in the first approximation, to the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) amplitude, the emphasis being on the construction of DVCS or meson production amplitudes with correct analytical properties in a wide range of the kinematical variables.
Determination of theE2/M1ratio in theγN→Δ(1232)transition from a simultaneous measurement ofp(γ→,p)π0andp(γ→,π+)n
2000
Tagged linearly polarized photons have been used at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI) for simultaneous measurements of the $p(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{\ensuremath{\gamma}},p){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ and $p(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{\ensuremath{\gamma}},{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+})n$ reaction channels to study the $\ensuremath{\gamma}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{N}\ensuremath{\Delta}(1232)$ transition. The energy dependence of the magnetic dipole ${M}_{1+}^{3/2}$ and electric quadrupole ${E}_{1+}^{3/2}$ amplitudes have been extracted from these data in the photon energy range from $270$ to 420 MeV. The $E2/M1$ ratio for the $\ensuremath{\gamma}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow…
Study of heavy meson production in p–Pb collisions atS=5.02TeV in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme
2017
Abstract We study inclusive charm and bottom production, for both D and B mesons, in p–Pb collisions at the LHC. Numerical results for p T -differential production cross sections are obtained at next-to-leading-order in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme. We compare our results with recent data from ALICE, LHCb and CMS at a centre-of-mass energy of 5 TeV and find good agreement. A comparison with p–p cross sections does not reveal the presence of nuclear initial-state interaction effects that could be expected to become visible as deviations of the ratio of p–Pb and p–p cross sections from one.
Too many Xʼs, Yʼs and Zʼs?
2012
Abstract A large number of new states have been reported during the last few years in charmonium spectroscopy above the charmed meson production threshold. They have been called X ʼs, Y ʼs, and Z ʼs. We reflect on the influence of thresholds on heavy meson spectroscopy comparing different flavor sectors and quantum numbers. The validity of a quark-model picture above open-flavor thresholds would severely restrict the number of channels that may lodge meson–meson molecules.
Formation of Heavy Meson Bound States by Two Nucleon Pick-up Reactions
2011
We develop a model to evaluate the formation rate of the heavy mesic nuclei in the two nucleon pick-up reactions, and apply it to the $^6$Li target cases for the formation of heavy meson-$\alpha$ bound states, as examples. The existence of the quasi-deuteron in the target nucleus is assumed in this model. It is found that the mesic nuclei formation in the recoilless kinematics is possible even for heavier mesons than nucleon in the two nucleon pick-up reactions. We find the formation rate of the meson-$\alpha$ bound states can be around half of the elementary cross sections at the recoilless kinematics with small distortions.
Photoproduction of scalar mesons on protons and nuclei
1999
We study the photoproduction of scalar mesons close to the threshold of f_0(980) and a_0(980) using a unitary chiral model. Peaks for both resonances show up in the invariant mass distributions of pairs of pseudoscalar mesons. A discussion is made on the photoproduction of these resonances in nuclei, which can shed light on their nature, a subject of continuous debate.
Mechanism for the double-spin asymmetry in electromagnetic rho production at HERMES
2001
We calculate the contribution of meson and pomeron exchanges to the double-spin asymmetry in $\rho$-meson electromagnetic production at HERMES energies. We show that the observed double-spin asymmetries, which are large, can be explained by the interference between the natural parity $f_2$-secondary Reggeon and the unnatural parity anomalous $f_1$ exchanges.
Hadron Structure Studied with the Electromagnetic Probe - from Giant Resonances to Meson Production
2000
The development of theoretical photonuclear physics over the last 40 years is illustrated by a few selected examples highlighting a number of important issues like collective motion in nuclei, the role of subnuclear degrees of freedom, relativity and meson production.
The Generalized Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn Integral and the Spin Structure of the Nucleon
1998
The spin structure functions g1 and g2 have been calculated in the resonance region and for small and intermediate momentum transfer. The calculation is based on a gauge-invariant and unitary model for one-pion photo- and electroproduction. The predictions of the model agree with the asymmetries and the spin sturcture functions recently measured at SLAC, and the first moments of the calculated spin structure functions fullfil the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn and Burkhardt-Cottingham sum rules within an error of typically 5-10 %.
Measurement of single spin asymmetry in η-meson production in p↑p and p̄↑p interactions in the beam fragmentation region at 200 GeV/c
1998
We present experimental results on measuring a single spin asymmetry in η-meson production in the interaction of transversely polarized protons and antiprotons at plab = 200 GeV/c with a proton target in the region 0.2 < xF < 0.7 for p↑p, 0.3 < xF < 0.7 for p↑p and 0.7 < pT < 2.0 GeV/c. A comparison of single spin asymmetries in π- and η-meson production is made.
