Strength prediction of a triaxially braided composite

The architecture of textile reinforcement affects the deformation and failure behavior of the textile reinforced composites. This paper presents an approximate method that incorporates the in-plane periodic meso structure of the textile composite in finite element models. In this approach, the representative unit cell (RUC) of a textile composite is divided into sub-cells. Instead of obtaining a homogeneous equivalent, these sub-cells are idealized and represented with laminates of different layups using shell elements. International audience; Automatic detection and classification of pollen species has value for use inside of palynologic allergen studies. Traditional labeling of different pollen species requires an expert biologist to classify particles by sight, and is therefore time-consuming and expensive. Copy-move forgery is one of the most common type of tampering in digital images. Copy-moves are parts of the image that are copied and pasted onto another part of the same image. Detection methods in general use block-matching methods, which first divide the image into overlapping blocks and then extract features from each block, assuming similar blocks will yield similar features. We present an alternative approach to the concept of a fuzzy (pseudo)metric using t-conorms instead of t-norms and call them t-conorm based fuzzy (pseudo)metrics or just CB-fuzzy (pseudo)metrics. We develop the basics of the theory of CB-fuzzy (pseudo)metrics and compare them with “classic” fuzzy (pseudo)metrics. A method for construction CB-fuzzy (pseudo)metrics from ordinary metrics is elaborated and topology induced by CB-fuzzy (pseudo)metrics is studied. A grid ant colony algorithm for the orienteering problem

In this paper we propose a distributed ant colony algorithm to solve large scale orienteering problem instances. Our approach is based on a multi-colony strategy where each colony works in an independent portion (cluster) in the original graph. This results in no need for communicating pheromones information among colonies and in increasing speedup. We have implemented our algorithm as a .NET Web services infrastructure following a grid computing philosophy and we provide some promising experimental results to show the feasibility and effectiveness of our approach
