Implementering av maskinsyn for montering av fasadeplater
2017
Masteroppgave i mekatronikk MAS500 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The construction industry has seen a surge in efficiency and automation solutions in recent years. MacGregor, in cooperation with the University of Agder want to use crane and lifting technology to streamline construction processes. Facade panels are widely used due to ease of installation and require minimal maintenance. The process associated with installation has an automation potential. This thesis looks at the implementation of machine vision for installation of facade panels. Installation is done using a ABB IRB6600 industrial robot and a vacuum tool. The machine vision is based on OpenCV and C++. The main components of t…
Evaluación multicriterio de políticas de uso y gestión de recursos naturales
2014
The purpose of this work is show the characteristics of different environmental economic assessment methodologies, and exposes a case study where possible alternatives addressed to reduce the contamination of a bay with multicriteria approach are evaluated. The results obtained show the effectiveness of multicriteria analysis to evaluate the alternatives for solution of contamination problem in a bay. Economic evaluation of the contamination effects integrated to the environmental, social and economic dimensions through multicriteria techniques allows an alternative planning to solve the environmental problem studied, providing the right decision.

A Multiple Case Study of Artificial Intelligent System Development in Industry
2020
There is a rapidly increasing amount of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems developed in recent years, with much expectation on its capacity of innovation and business value generation. However, the promised value of AI systems in specific business contexts might not be understood, and further integrated into the development processes. We wanted to understand how software engineering processes and practices can be applied to develop AI systems in a fast-faced, business-driven manner. As the first step, we explored contextual factors of AI development and the connections between AI developments to business opportunities. We conducted 12 semi-structured interviews in seven companies in Brazi…
A Novel Artificial Mosaic Generation Technique Driven by Local Gradient Analysis
2008
Art often provides valuable hints for technological innovations especially in the field of Image Processing and Computer Graphics. In this paper we present a novel method to generate an artificial mosaic starting from a raster input image. This approach, based on Gradient Vector Flow computation and some smart heuristics, permit us to follow the most important edges maintaining at the same time high frequency details. Several examples and comparisons with other recent mosaic generation approaches show the effectiveness of our technique.
Nonlocal Second Order Vehicular Traffic Flow Models And Lagrange-Remap Finite Volumes
2011
In this paper a second order vehicular macroscopic model is derived from a microscopic car–following type model and it is analyzed. The source term includes nonlocal anticipation terms. A Finite Volume Lagrange–remap scheme is proposed.
Automatische Klassifikation der Lebersegmente nach Couinaud: Entwicklung eines neuen Algorithmus und Evaluierung an Spiral-CT-Datensätzen
2003
Purpose: To develop a software tool that analyzes the anatomy of the portal vein branches and assigns segmental and subsegmental branches according to Couinaud's classification system and to evaluate its accuracy. Materials and Methods: The algorithm was developed in C++ on a PC. The algorithm recognizes the three major branching patterns of the portal vein. Segmental and subsegmental branches are assigned to 8 segments following Couinaud and encoded by 8 colors. The software was evaluated using CT data sets of 39 patients. After the individual segmental anatomy of each patient was determined by an experienced radiologist, automatic classification was performed and the results were compared…
Saliency Features for 3D CAD-Data in the Context of Sampling-Based Motion Planning
2021
In this paper, we consider disassembly scenarios for real-world 3D CAD-data, where each component is defined by a triangle mesh. For a fast construction of collision-free disassembly paths, common approaches use sampling-based rigid body motion planning which is well studied in the literature. One fact that has so far received little attention is that in industrial disassembly scenarios components are often attached to each other with flexible fastening elements like clips. In the planning process, the fastening elements show the following characteristics: 1) They can cause complex non-linear disassembly paths. 2) They are often deformable. 3) They are usually modeled in a relaxed state and…
Compression of binary images based on covering
1995
The paper describes a new technique to compress binary images based on an image covering algorithm. The idea is that binary images can be always covered by rectangles, univocally described by a vertex and two adjacent edges (L-shape). Some optimisations are necessary to consider degenerate configurations. The method has been tested on several images representing drawings and typed texts. The comparison with existing image file compression techniques shows a good performance of our approach. Further optimisations are under development.
