Skin chromophore mapping by modified video-microscope
2013
Possibilities to map skin chromophores using a modified low-cost digital video-microscope is discussed. The device comprises CMOS digital imaging sensor, four-colour LED illumination system and image acquisition optics. The main goal is to obtain a set of spectral images of the skin area of interest for further conversion into maps of the main skin chromophores
Development of a Protocol for CCD Calibration: Application to a Multispectral Imaging System
2005
In this paper we describe in detail a method for calibrating a CCD-based camera. The calibration aims to remove both temporal and systematic noises introduced by the sensor, electronics, and optics after which we can correct the non-linearity of its response. For the non-linearity correction we use a simple and powerful approach consisting on a complementary approach between a polynomial fitting and an LUT based algorithm. The proposed methodology is accurate in the sense that it takes into account individual characteristics of each pixel. In each pixel, systematic noises are measured through acquiring offset images, thermal images, and FlatField images. A rigorous protocol for acquiring th…
High Dynamic Range Spectral Imaging Pipeline For Multispectral Filter Array Cameras
2017
Spectral filter arrays imaging exhibits a strong similarity with color filter arrays. This permits us to embed this technology in practical vision systems with little adaptation of the existing solutions. In this communication, we define an imaging pipeline that permits high dynamic range (HDR)-spectral imaging, which is extended from color filter arrays. We propose an implementation of this pipeline on a prototype sensor and evaluate the quality of our implementation results on real data with objective metrics and visual examples. We demonstrate that we reduce noise, and, in particular we solve the problem of noise generated by the lack of energy balance. Data are provided to the community…
Snapshot Spectral Imaging
2018
This chapter describes an application of the spline-based wavelet frames to the spectral imaging. It presents a method that enables to convert a regular digital camera into a snapshot spectral imager by equipping the camera with a dispersive diffuser and with a compressed sensing-based algorithm for digital processing. The method relies on the assumption that typical images can be sparsely represented in the frame domain. The solution is found from the constrained \(l_{1}\) minimization of a functional by Bregman iterations. Results of optical experiments are reported. The chapter is based on the paper (Golub et al., Appl. Opt. 55, 432–443, (2016), [11]).
A multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging-based virtual reality surgical navigation tool for robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy
2019
Objective Increased computational power and improved visualization hardware have generated more opportunities for virtual reality (VR) applications in healthcare. In this study, we test the feasibility of a VR-assisted surgical navigation system for robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy. Material and methods The prostate, all magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) visible tumors, and important anatomic structures like the neurovascular bundles, seminal vesicles, bladder, and rectum were contoured on a multiparametric MRI using an in-house segmentation software. Three-dimensional (3-D) VR models were rendered and evaluated in a side room of the operating room. While interacting with the VR platfo…

Animación, documental y memoria. La representación animada de la dictadura chilena
2018
2018
The objective of this article is to analyse methodological principles in studies that link the construction of memory with decolonisation. Based on two decolonial approaches, the colonial and epistemic difference, a comparative study of collaborative research on memory in Latin America was carried out. This analysis contributes to the conceptual-critical reflection of the construction of memory in a decolonial framing and presents through innovative methodologies meaning shifts of official narratives. In conclusion, it proposes the integration of the territorial dimension and the subjectivity of the participants and their communities as a way of transformation towards peaceful societies
Self-regulation of learning: the potential technologies impact of the metacognitive approach
2012
Self-regulation researchers theorize that self-regulation does not occur when learners display personal initiative, perseverance, and adaptive skill in pursuing learning. At its core, self-regulation involves self-motivation as well as metacognitive processes. Reflection on the process of learning is believed to be an essential ingredient in the development of expert teachers. By employing reflective thinking skills to evaluate the results of one’s own learning efforts, awareness of effective learning strategies can be increased and ways to use these strategies in other learning situations can be understood. In this paper, we describe how expert teachers use the knowledge they have gained o…
Postnatal predator exposure reduces fear and anxiety behaviors in adult mice
2010
Poster; Predator cues are very efficient to induce fear in rodents but most studies use adult subjects and not pups. Nevertheless, a perinatal stress can have a significant effect on behavior and on physiology at adulthood. An early stress (foot shock, restraint, mother separation) is able to modulate behaviors later and the aim of this study was to examine if the synthetic predator odor 2,3,5-trimethylthiazoline (TMT) presented to neonates modifies fear and anxiety-related behaviors in adult female mice.
