Generation of Natural Runoff Monthly Series at Ungauged Sites Using a Regional Regressive Model

Many hydrologic applications require reliable estimates of runoff in river basins to face the widespread lack of data, both in time and in space. A regional method for the reconstruction of monthly runoff series is here developed and applied to Sicily (Italy). A simple modeling structure is adopted, consisting of a regression-based rainfall–runoff model with four model parameters, calibrated through a two-step procedure. Monthly runoff estimates are based on precipitation, temperature, and exploiting the autocorrelation with runoff at the previous month. Hensikten med denne studien er å utforske hvordan gruppeveiledere opplever og intensjonelt anvender sin emosjonelle kompetanse i veiledning av grupper. Datamaterialet er basert på dybdeintervjuer med tre gruppeveiledere og analysert ved bruk av den konstant komparative metode. Tre hovedtema ble identifisert: (1) emosjonelle responser, (2) empatisk tilstedeværelse, og (3) fasilitering av emosjonell kompetanse hos veisøkere. Music May Reduce Loneliness and Act as Social Surrogate for a Friend: Evidence from an Experimental Listening Study

After losing a close other, individuals usually confide in an empathic friend to receive comfort and they seem to have a heightened desire for mood-congruent, consoling music. Hence, it has been proposed that affect-congruent music acts as a social surrogate for an empathic friend. Thus, we hypothesized that listening to comforting music, as a response to a social loss experience, provides a sense of empathic company as indicated by reduced loneliness and heightened empathy. We further predicted that distracting music would have a stronger impact on the listeners’ mood in comparison to comforting pieces.
