The transition from planar fronts, trigger waves or solitary pulses to spirals in excitable media, has attracted increasing interest in the past few decades, mainly because of its relevance for biological and medical applications. In this paper we describe a new and convenient method for spiral generation starting from symmetric wavefronts. By using the micelle-forming zwitterionic surfactant N-tetradecyl- N,N-dimethylamine oxide in a Belousov–Zhabotinsky solution, it is possible to control to a large extent the domains where spirals can be spontaneously generated. Cytotoxic glycosides from the roots of Weigela x “Bristol Ruby”

International audience; Seven oleanane-type glycosides were extracted and isolated by various chromatographic methods from the roots of Weigela x "Bristol Ruby" (1-7), six previously undescribed (1-6) and a known one (7). Their structures were assigned by spectroscopic analysis mainly 2D NMR and mass spectrometry (ESIMS). Selected triterpenoid glycosides (1-3, 6, 7) displayed a good cytotoxic activity against a mouse colon cancer cell line CT26.

AbstractInactivation of p53 found in more than half of human cancers is often associated with increased tumor resistance to anti-cancer therapy. We have previously shown that overexpression of the phosphatase Wip1 in p53-negative tumors sensitizes them to chemotherapeutic agents, while protecting normal tissues from the side effects of anti-cancer treatment. In this study, we decided to search for kinases that prevent Wip1-mediated sensitization of cancer cells, thereby interfering with efficacy of genotoxic anti-cancer drugs. Peak capacity (i.e. maximal number of resolved peaks that fit in a chromatographic window) is a theoretical concept with growing interest, but based on a situation rarely met in practice. Using Monte Carlo simulations of the bond fluctuation model, we study the formation of micelles in a confined mixture of asymmetric AB-diblock copolymers and homopolymers. The composition of the sphere-forming AB-diblock copolymers is fA = 1/8. The mixture is confined into a thin film. The film surfaces attract the minority component of the diblock with strength, eW. In the vascular wall, reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced by several enzyme systems including NADPH oxidase, xanthine oxidase, uncoupled endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and the mitochondrial electron transport chain. On the other hand, the vasculature is protected by antioxidant enzyme systems, including superoxide dismutases, catalase, glutathione peroxidases and paraoxonases, which detoxify ROS. Mangiferin nanoemulsions in treatment of inflammatory disorders and skin regeneration

Abstract In this paper mangiferin nanoemulsions were developed using hyaluronic acid of different molecular weight, in absence or presence of Transcutol-P. An extensive study was carried out on the physico-chemical properties of nanoemulsions. Nanosizer and transmission electron microscopy showed oil droplets average size 296 nm with monodisperses distribution (PI ≤ 0.30). The zeta potential was highly negative (−30 mV). FTIR analysis confirms the existence of physical interactions among compounds. Rheological measurements allowed to conclude that all formulations present a pseudoplastic behavior (s ∼ 0.4) in presence of the biopolymer. Moreover, mangiferin release depends on the molecular …
