Molecular dynamics of electrosprayed water nanodroplets containing sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate

The behavior of aqueous solutions of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOTNa) subject to electrospray ionization (ESI) has been investigated by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations at three temperatures (350, 500 and 800 K). We consider several types of water nanodroplets containing AOTNa molecules and composed of a fixed number of water molecules (1000), N(AOT)(0) AOT(-) anions (N(AOT)(0) = 0, 5, 10) and N(Na)(0) sodium ions (N(Na)(0) = 0, 5, 10, 15, 20): in a short time scale (less than 1 ns), the AOTNa molecules, initially forming direct micelles in the interior of the water nanodroplets, are observed in all cases to diffuse nearby the nanodroplet surface, so that the hydrophilic …

OBIETTIVI: Valutazione della qualità microbiologica dell’aria nelle sale operatorie dell’A.O.U.P. “P. Giaccone” di Palermo mediante metodi di campionamento attivo e passivo. MATERIALI: Nel secondo semestre del 2009 sono stati effettuati campionamenti di aria in 20 sale operatorie (10 a flusso laminare e 10 a flusso turbolento) sia in condizioni di attività sia in condizioni di riposo. I punti di prelievo per il campionamento attivo sono stati: 1) il centro stanza 2) il VCCC; per il campionamento passivo 1) centro stanza 2) fondo stanza. 5-Azacytidine (5-azaC), a methyltransferase inhibitor and anticancer drug, can promote several cellular stress responses such as apoptosis, autophagy, and senescence. The action of 5-azaC is complex and can be modulated by dose, time of treatment, and co-administration with oxidants. Insulinoma is a rare pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor with limited chemotherapeutic options. International audience; The near-liquidus crystallization of a high-K basalt (PST-9 golden pumice, 49·4 wt % SiO2, 1·85 wt % K2O, 7·96 wt % MgO) from the present-day activity of Stromboli (Aeolian Islands, Italy) has been experimentally investigated between 1050 and 1175°C, at pressures from 50 to 400 MPa, for melt H2O concentrations between 1·2 and 5·5 wt % and {Delta}NNO ranging from –0·07 to +2·32. A drop-quench device was systematically used. AuPd alloys were used as containers in most cases, resulting in an average Fe loss of 13% for the 34 charges studied. ADAM10 (A disintegrin and metalloproteinase 10) has been demonstrated as an enzyme with protective properties in Alzheimer's disease: in mouse models it not only lowered generation of toxic A-beta peptides and formation of senile plaques but also alleviated learning deficits and enhanced synaptic density. This is due to cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) within its A-beta stretch and to the release of the extracellular domain of APP with neuroprotective function.
