Reverse electrodialysis is a novel technology that exploits a salinity gradient to generate electrical energy. The salinity gradient can be available from natural waters such as seawater and river water or they can be artificially generated and used within closed-loop applications. This last option has been recently investigated leading to the development of the RED heat engine concept. Abstract Following the interesting arguments raised in a recent letter to the editor, about a paper recently published in this journal, the authors are happy to take a cue from them to clarify some facts that have not been sufficiently treated for space. After a description of the methods used, arguments regarding a blunt trauma on the right shoulder with consequent dislocation, the position of the hands on the pubis with brachial plexus injury, and the wrist nailing that caused retracted thumbs are discussed in detail.

Estimating radiant fields in flat heterogeneous photoreactors by the six-flux model

Heterogeneous photoreactor modeling is a task complicated by the integro-differential nature of the Radiation Transfer Equation (RTE) when scattering phenomena are important. In the present work, a novel “Six Flux Model” (SFM) is proposed, which may be regarded as a step forward with respect to the previously proposed “Two Flux Model” (TFM). In order to validate the newly proposed model, Monte Carlo simulations of an indefinite plane-slab photoreactor have been performed. El presente artículo pretende analizar, a partir de diversos casos documentados en la segunda mitad del siglo XIV en la ciudad de Valencia, como las mujeres intervinieron a menudo en la atención médica de las personas con las que convivían, empezando por familiares, pero también vecinos, amigos o clientes. Se analizará el tipo de asistencia y las condiciones en que ésta se desarrollaba. Se pretende con ello demostrar el destacado papel que tuvieron en la medicina, muchas veces silenciado por no formar parte del colectivo masculino que practicaba de forma más o menos regulada el arte de curar.
