Introduzione. La Madonna del Mirto e le Rigattiate
2012
Protective effects of mirtazapine in mice lacking the Mbnl2 gene in forebrain glutamatergic neurons: Relevance for myotonic dystrophy 1
2019
Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a multisystemic disorder characterized by muscle weakness and wasting and by important central nervous system-related symptoms including impairments in executive functions, spatial abilities and increased anxiety and depression. The Mbnl2 gene has been implicated in several phenotypes consistent with DM1 neuropathology. In this study, we developed a tissue-specific knockout mouse model lacking the Mbnl2 gene in forebrain glutamatergic neurons to examine its specific contribution to the neurobiological perturbations related to DM1. We found that these mice exhibit long-term cognitive deficits and a depressive-like state associated with neuronal loss, increa…
Comportamento vegeto-produttivo di nove biotipi di mirto (Myrtus communis L.) siciliani
2009
I risultat…

A monoamine oxidase B gene variant and short-term antidepressant treatment response.
2007
Genetic differences among patients suffering from Major Depression are likely to contribute to interindividual differences in medication treatment response. Thus, the identification of gene variants affecting drug response is needed in order to be able to predict response to psychopharmacological drugs. This study analyzed a possible association of the common A644G single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) within intron 13 of the monoamine oxidase B (MAOB) gene with antidepressant treatment response. The study population consisted of n = 102 patients with major depression (criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition; DSM-IV) participating in a randomized do…
Gli strumenti musicali di Palazzo Mirto. Storia, tecnologia, restauro
2011
Scientific studies for the restoration of a wood painting of the Galleria Interdisciplinare Regionale della Sicilia—Palazzo Mirto di Palermo
2016
Abstract The Ritratto muliebre, referring to Venus, is a panel painting, oil on wood, attributed to unknown artist and probably dated to the second half of 16th century, today conserved in the Galleria Interdisciplinare Regionale della Sicilia—Palazzo Mirto of Palermo. The aim of this research was to assess the techniques used to decorate the wooden painting and to verify the state of conservation of the artwork's materials but also to identify the previous treatments. This study was the essential condition to plane and perform the correct restoration. For this reason, an integrated analytical approach based on the use of non-invasive and micro-invasive techniques was used, with the aim to …
Early improvement under mirtazapine and paroxetine predicts later stable response with high sensitivity in patients with major depression

EPA-0703 – Performance of the hamilton depression rating subscales to predict antidepressant treatment response in the early course of treatment
2014
Early improvement ( EI ), i.e. a symptom reduction from baseline of at least 20% after 2 weeks, has been proven to be a clinically useful predictor for later treatment outcome. In most studies EI is identified by using the sum score of the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD). Several unidimensional subscales of the HAMD exist, which have proven to be an economic measure of treatment change. Their ability to detect onset of improvement in comparison to the full HAMD has not been researched yet. The present study investigated in patients with major depression (MD) (1) whether the HAMD subscales are a valid and economic option to predict antidepressant treatment response in the early cours…
