Dissemination of CTX-M-Producing Escherichia coli in Freshwater Fishes From a French Watershed (Burgundy)

2019

International audience; The burden of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases producing Escherichia coli (ESBL-Ec), has increased over several decades. Freshwater ecosystems are suspected to play an important ecological and evolutionary role in driving the dissemination of antimicrobial resistance. The aim of our study was to decipher the occurrence of ESBL-Ec in a small watershed (Ouche river, Burgundy, France), targeting environmental matrices and fishes. Among cefotaxime resistant E. coli (ctxR Ec) isolates, we detected and characterized 36 ESBL-Ec from water, biofilm and fish guts. ctxR Ec and ESBL-Ec were found in samples from sites near the first small town, located downstream from the wate…

Influence of Ownership Type and CEO Power on Residual Loss: Evidence From the Global Microfinance Industry

2019

This study examines whether the agency cost component referred to as “residual loss” differs between nonprofit and shareholder-owned microfinance organizations and whether such costs are further influenced by CEO power. We use operating expenses, asset utilization, liquidity, and tangible asset intensity to proxy for residual loss. Using 374 microfinance organizations located in 76 countries, we find evidence that the residual loss is higher in microfinance organizations incorporated as nonprofits, but only if the CEO is powerful. Our empirical evidence illustrates the importance of installing proper governance mechanisms to minimize costs caused by high managerial power in the nonprofit s…

Spēle "18 bus stops"

2015

Spēles saskarnes realizācijai tika izmantota „SFML” bibliotēka jeb „Simple and Fast Media Libary”.

Ontology-based cooperation of information systems : contributions to database-to-ontology mapping and XML-to-ontology mapping

2010

This thesis treats the area of ontology-based cooperation of information systems. We propose a global architecture called OWSCIS that is based on ontologies and web-services for the cooperation of distributed heterogeneous information systems. In this thesis, we focus on the problem of connecting the local information sources to the local ontologies within OWSCIS architecture. This problem is articulated by three main axes: 1) the creation of the local ontology from the local information sources, 2) the mapping of local information sources to an existing local ontology, and 3) the translation of queries over the local ontologies into queries over local information sources.

Implementing an ATL model checker tool using relational algebra concepts

2014

Alternating-Time Temporal Logic (ATL) is a branching-time temporal logic that naturally describes computations of open systems. An open system interacts with its environment and its behavior depends on the state of the system as well as the behavior of the environment. ATL model-checking is a well-established technique for verifying that a formal model representing such a system satisfies a given property. In this paper we describe a new interactive model checker environment based on algebraic approach. Our tool is implemented in client-server paradigm. The client part allows an interactive construction of ATL models represented by concurrent game structures as directed multi-graphs. The se…

Structure of the Human TRPML2 Ion Channel Extracytosolic/Lumenal Domain.

2019

Summary TRPML2 is the least structurally characterized mammalian transient receptor potential mucolipin ion channel. The TRPML family hallmark is a large extracytosolic/lumenal domain (ELD) between transmembrane helices S1 and S2. We present crystal structures of the tetrameric human TRPML2 ELD at pH 6.5 (2.0 A) and 4.5 (2.95 A), corresponding to the pH values in recycling endosomes and lysosomes. Isothermal titration calorimetry shows Ca2+ binding to the highly acidic central pre-pore loop which is abrogated at low pH, in line with a pH-dependent channel regulation model. Small angle X-ray scattering confirms the ELD dimensions in solution. Changes in pH or Ca2+ concentration do not affect…

Voltage Source Multilevel Inverters With Reduced Device Count: Topological Review and Novel Comparative Factors

2021

Multilevel inverters (MLIs) have gained increasing interest for advanced energy-conversion systems due to their features of high-quality produced waveforms, modularity, transformerless operation, voltage, and current scalability, and fault-tolerant operation. However, these merits usually come with the cost of a high number of components. Over the past few years, proposing new MLIs with a lower component count has been one of the most active topics in power electronics. The first aim of this article is to update and summarize the recently developed multilevel topologies with a reduced component count, based on their advantages, disadvantages, construction, and specific applications. Within …

Small genomes and the difficulty to define minimal translation and metabolic machineries

2015

The notion of minimal life has sparked the interest of scientists in different fields, ranging from the origin-of-life research to biotechnology-oriented synthetic biology. Whether the interest is focused on the emergence of protocells out of prebiotic systems or the design of a cell chassis ready to incorporate new devices and functions, proposing minimal combinations of genes for life is not a trivial task. Using comparative genomics and biochemistry of endosymbionts (i.e., intracellular mutualistic symbionts) and intracellular parasites, a decade ago we proposed the core of a minimal gene set for a simple heterotrophic cell adapted to a chemically complex environment. In this work, we di…

A UML-based notation for representing MAS organizations

2011

A notation for representing agents' organizations to be implemented using Moise+ and Jason is proposed. For this purpose a UML profile was defined for representing the elements of Moise+ organizational model such as role, mission and group. The proposed notation will be fully illustrated and applied to the classical example provided by the J-Moise+ team.

Multi-label classification using boolean matrix decomposition

2012

This paper introduces a new multi-label classifier based on Boolean matrix decomposition. Boolean matrix decomposition is used to extract, from the full label matrix, latent labels representing useful Boolean combinations of the original labels. Base level models predict latent labels, which are subsequently transformed into the actual labels by Boolean matrix multiplication with the second matrix from the decomposition. The new method is tested on six publicly available datasets with varying numbers of labels. The experimental evaluation shows that the new method works particularly well on datasets with a large number of labels and strong dependencies among them.
