Walking, physical activity and life-space mobility among older people
2017
Autonomy in mobility is a central component of active ageing. Life-space mobility describes where, when, and how an individual reaches desired destinations. Walking, an important form of physical activity among older people, is a prerequisite for engaging in daily activities. This study explored the cross-sectional and longitudinal relationships between physical activity and life-space mobility. The associations of walking with reasons for going outdoors in different life-space areas, living arrangements, and environmental barriers to mobility were also examined. Data from two larger studies were used: the Life-Space Mobility in Old Age (LISPE) accelerometer substudy (n=174, median age 79.7…

Exploring drivers for Italian university students’ mobility: first evidence from AlmaLaurea data.
2021
This article is part of a national Project aimed at studying Italian university students’ mobility. The novelty proposed here lies in the use, for the first time, of individual data from the census surveys that the Alma Laurea consortium conducts on all Italian graduates. The advantage of this data consists of information that was previously unavailable. For example, information about the socio-economic conditions of the students’ parents, satisfaction with the Bachelor’s degree course and university services, and employment status recorded 1, 3, and 5 years after graduation. Here we report the first analyses conducted on the data relating to the University of Palermo Bachelors who enrolled…
Urban mobility and the spatial distribution of economic activities in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
2017
International audience; In developing countries such as Brazil, the economic growth is gradually improving the population's standard of living, resulting in major impacts on urban mobility, particularly with regard to motor vehicle access. Between 2001 and 2012, the total growth of the car fleet in Brazil was around 3.5 million (Rodrigues, 2013), with 5.4% of this growth only in the Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro. Presently, the city is experiencing severe congestion episodes (Beyer, 2012), due to saturation of the main roads, and a fragmented and inefficient public transport system. For a country in economic development in the 21st century, it is very important to plan and monitor the …
Lithic Management in the Chassey Culture Neolithic
2009
The integrated technological approach of the lithic industries in Southern France Chassey culture and neighbouring cultures is a way to highlight a complex organisation of space. The development of long distance diffusion networks of lithic products from western Provence creates interdependence between producing-exporting sites and receiving-consuming sites. The analysis of their functioning, from raw material sources until remote consuming sites, is undergone on various scales (from supra-regional to local), through lithic technology and use wear analysis.

Proposition méthodologique pour la visualisation et l'exploration des mobilités géographiques
2016
Daily mobility data are multidimensional and desaggregated, what make them hard to manipulate and to analyze. Although methods of representation and analyze have been proposed, none of them seem to be able to efficiently bring out knowledge from data. We propose to combinate this solutions and a methodology of innovative reaggregation to visualize and explore mobility data.
Motifs de démotorisation des actifs et retraités dans les aires urbaines françaises : premiers résultats statistiques de l'enquête MoDe
2021
Based on a nationwide quantitative survey conducted on 2,000 households (including 1,000 demotorised households and 1,000 non-demotorised twin households), we propose to provide an overview of demotorisation in France. This survey by questionnaire was conducted during the winter of 2017-2018 with a panel of households representative of the French population (from the Metaskope panel of Kantar-TNS ex-TNS-Sofres). Combined with the ?Parc Auto? panel survey (Kantar-TNS for Ademe-CCFA-Ifsttar-DSR), this survey is an original source of data on the French demotorised households. From two multinomial logit regression models, for both active and retired populations, this data allows to highlight th…
Recovery of mobility function and life-space mobility after ischemic stroke: the MOBITEC-Stroke study protocol
2020
Abstract Background Stroke is a major cause of disability and stroke incidence increases with age. Stroke frequently results in permanent limitations of mobility, and, consequently, the need for the help of others in activities of daily living. In order to optimize rehabilitative efforts and their functional outcomes, detailed knowledge of the functional recovery process, regarding mobility, is needed. Objectives of the MOBITEC-Stroke study are: 1.) To characterize mobility, including lower extremity physical function (LEPF) and life space (the geospatial extent of all of a person’s movements), and changes in mobility within the first year after stroke. 2.) To identify and characterize subg…
