Engineering of nanoscaled structures may help controlling the electrical and thermal transport in solids, in particular for thermoelectric applications that require the combination of low thermal conductivity and low electrical resistivity. The tetragonal tungsten bronzes Nb8−xW9+xO47 (TTB) allow a continuous variation of the charge carrier concentration while fulfilling at the same time the concept of a “phonon-glass electron-crystal” through a layered nanostructure defined by intrinsic crystallographic shear planes. In Sicily transhumance is still today - even if resized - a practice in which copious shepherds have to turn to, while in Sardinia pastoral mobility disappeared in the 1970s of the last century – however short-range movements remain still active. After outlining a brief historical framework of transhumance in the two islands, the speech would like to reflect on how the traits of history and identity of this practice are starting to change into a new cultural and economic resource, aimed at the safeguard and the valorization of an important material and immaterial heritage and at the promotion of experiential and sustainable forms of tourism.

Ricostruendo il contesto della ricerca, il saggio discute sulle forme di oggettivazione e rappresentazione del processo di "raccolta dei dati", sulle figurazioni della voce del narratore e dei soggetti agenti, sul metalinguaggio e la sua efficacia nella costruzione della conoscenza e sul tipo di sapere che ne deriva.
