Circular dichroism in X-ray photoemission from Pd(111) and CO/Pd(111)
1995
It is shown experimentally that in the soft X-ray region a large circular dichroism in the photoelectron angular distribution (CDAD) exists for both valence orbitals and core levels of CO molecules adsorbed on Pd(111). From theoretical consideration it follows that in the case of a spherically symmetric ground state wave function, like the 1σ and 2σ orbitals of CO, CDAD appears due to the lack of spherical symmetry in the final state. For carbonK-shell experimental results are compared to model calculations. Investigations at the Pd core levels proved that CDAD does also arise in X-ray photo-emission from non-magnetic crystals.
Use of alkylarsonium directing agents for the synthesis and study of zeolites
2019
[EN] Expanding the previously known family of -onium (ammonium, phosphonium, and sulfonium) organic structure-directing agents (OSDAs) for the synthesis of zeolite MFI, a new member, the arsonium cation, is used for the first time. The new group of tetraalkylarsonium cations has allowed the synthesis of the zeolite ZSM-5 with several different chemical compositions, opening a route for the synthesis of zeolites with a new series of OSDA. Moreover, the use of As replacing N in the OSDA allows the introduction of probe atoms that facilitate the study of these molecules by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR), and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS)…
Towards purely inorganic clusters in medicine: Biocompatible divalent cations as counterions of cobaltabis(dicarbollide) and its iodinated derivatives
2021
Monovalent cations, Cs+, and alkylammonium ([NR4]+) salts have traditionally been used to precipitate the anions of boranes, carborane and metallocarborane clusters. In contrast, in the body and in living organisms in general, divalent cations have a special relevance. In this work, we isolate for the first time the cobaltabis(dicarbollide) salts of the biocompatible divalent cations of biological importance that can have application both in biology and in materials science. The preparation of Ca2+, Mg2+ and Fe2+ salts of anionic iodinated nido-[C2B9H12]− and cobaltabis(dicarbollide) as well as its di-, tetra- and octa-iodinated derivatives are reported. Ca2+ and Mg2+ are hard Lewis acids a…
Oб определении внутримолекулярной потенциальной функции многоатомной молекулы H2S
2008
In modern molecular physics, there are two basic methods of determining the intramolecular potential function of polyatomic molecules. The first method is ab initio calculations and the second is the so-called semi-empirical method in which the Hamiltonian parameters are varied by direct construction of the Hamiltonian matrix. In the present work, the second approach is discussed on the example of the XY2 three-atomic molecule of the C2v symmetry. On the one hand, it is extremely simple for implementation, and on the other hand, it considerably extends the capability of application of the traditional semi-empirical methods. The approach suggested involves two aspects that make it advantageo…

Synthesis, stability and spectral behavior of fluorogenic sulfone-pyronin and sulfone-rosamine dyes
2018
International audience; The first synthesis of sulfone-pyronin and sulfone-rosamine dyes bearing optically tunable primary amino groups (acting as fluorogenic centers) is presented. Sulfone analogs of xanthene-based fluorophores have recently been highlighted as a new class of near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent dyes (Liu et al. ACS Appl Mater Interfaces 2016; 8(35):22953-62), and the availability of fluorogenic derivatives is essential for the rapid construction of “turn-on” reactive probes for chemoselective bioimaging. However, these fluorescent anilines have been found to be unstable in aqueous physiological conditions due to the marked electrophilicity of their meso-position and hence its …
Synthesis of new asymmetric xanthene dyes via catalyst-free SNAr with sulfur nucleophiles
2014
Addition of a single functional handle to the tricyclic moiety of fluorescein results in asymmetric xanthene dyes. Our synthesis of a new class of asymmetric xanthenes proceeds via an unusual SNAr with sulfur nucleophiles on electron rich aromatic xanthenes scaffolds in the absence of a metal catalyst. The resulting 3'-thioethers exhibit high photostability and are conveniently converted into reactive dyes for macromolecule labelling.
Macrocyclic hexaureas: synthesis, conformation, and anion binding.
2009
Varied flexibility: Cyclic oligoureas are formed by using anions as templates. Linking of six xanthene and/or diphenyl ether fragments by urea groups leads to the formation of five macrocyclic compounds with a 48-membered ring with variable flexibility (see picture). Their interaction with anions shows a strong influence of acetate and chloride ions on the cyclization from four precursor molecules. Five macrocylic compounds XXXXXX, XXDXXD, XDXDXD, XDDXDD, and DDDDDD with 48-membered rings, in which six xanthene and/or diphenyl ether fragments are linked through six urea (-NH-C(O)-NH-) groups, have been synthesized. In the cyclization step, a linear diamine was allowed to react with the appr…
Cyclic tetraureas with variable flexibility--synthesis, crystal structures and properties.
2008
Macrocyclic molecules containing several amide or urea functions may serve as anion receptors. We describe the synthesis of 32-membered macrocycles, in which four rigid xanthene units (X) and/or diphenyl ether units (D) as flexible analogues are linked via urea groups. All six possible combinations of these units (XXXX, XXXD, XXDD, XDXD, XDDD and DDDD) were synthesized and two examples were characterised by single-crystal X-ray analyses (DDDD and two structures for XXXD). Both macrocycles showed distinct differences in their overall conformation and consequently in their hydrogen-bonding pattern. Hydrogen-bonded solvent molecules are found for both compounds and intramolecular hydrogen bond…
Non-Planar and Flexible Hole-Transporting Materials from Bis-Xanthene and Bis-Thioxanthene Units for Perovskite Solar Cells
2019
Two new hole-transporting materials (HTMs), BX-OMeTAD and BTX-OMeTAD, based on xanthene and thioxanthene units, respectively, and bearing p-methoxydiphenylamine peripheral groups, are presented for their use in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The novelty of the newly designed molecules relies on the use of a single carbon-carbon bond ‘C−C’ as a linker between the two functionalized heterocycles, which increases the flexibility of the molecule compared with the more rigid structure of the widely used HTM spiro-OMeTAD. The new HTMs display a limited absorbance in the visible region, due to the lack of conjugation between the two molecular halves, and the chemical design used has a remarkably i…
