Experimental study of $^{100}$Tc $\beta$ decay with total absorption $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy

International audience; The β decay of Tc100 has been studied by using the total absorption γ-ray spectroscopy technique at the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line facility in Jyväskylä. In this work the new Decay Total Absorption γ-ray Spectrometer in coincidence with a cylindrical plastic β detector has been employed. The β intensity to the ground state obtained from the analysis is in good agreement with previous high-resolution measurements. However, differences in the feeding to the first-excited state as well as weak feeding to a new level at high excitation energy have been deduced from this experiment. The new cis-dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes [MoO2(L2)(H2O)] (2) and [MoO2(L3) (H2O)] (3) containing the tridentate hydrazone-based ligands (H2L2 = N'-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-methylbenzohydrazide and H2L3 = N'-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-(hydroxyimino)propanehydrazide) have been synthesised and characterized via IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The title cocrystal contains two chiral conformational diastereomers, viz. (1S,2R,RN)- and (1S,2R,SN)-, of [2,4-ditert-butyl-6-{[(1-oxido-1-phenylpropan-2-yl)(methyl)amino]- methyl}phenolato](methanol)-cis-dioxidomolybdenum(VI), [Mo(C25H35NO2)O2(CH3OH)], representing the first example of a structurally characterized molybdenum complex with enantiomerically pure ephedrine derivative ligands. The MoVI cations exhibit differently distorted octahedral coordination environments, with two oxide ligands positioned cis to each other. Dioxidomolybdenum(VI) compound [MoO2Cl2(dmso)2] reacts with a chiral tetradentate O3N-type L-alanine bisphenol ligand precursor (Et3NH)H2Lala to form an oxidochloridomolybdenum(VI) complex [MoOCl(Lala)] (1) as two separable geometric isomers with phenolate groups in cis or trans positions. The single crystal X-ray and NMR analyses of cis- and trans-1 reveal that the complexes are formed of monomeric molecules, in which the ligand has a tetradentate coordination through three oxygen donors and one nitrogen donor. A Computational Study of Adsorption of CO2, SO2, and H2CO on Free-Standing and Molybdenum-Supported CaO Films

Oxide films play a significant role in a wide range of fields from catalysis to solar cell materials. CaO films are promising sorbents for many environmentally harmful molecules. Here, we report a systematic investigation of adsorption of CO2, SO2, and H2CO on bulk and Mo-supported CaO(100) films using density functional theory. Significant effects on adsorption energy, charge transfer to the molecules, and degree of the C–O bond activation were demonstrated on Mo-supported CaO films by changing the film thickness, composition, and the strength and direction of an applied external electric field. This review highlights the necessity for the development of proper sampling and storage, fast pretreatment methodology followed by highly sensitive detection for the determination of molybdenum in geological samples. The deficiency of the molybdenum cofactor (Moco) is an autosomal recessive disease, which leads to the loss of activity of all molybdoenzymes in humans with sulfite oxidase being the essential protein. Moco deficiency generally results in death in early childhood. Moco is a sulfur-containing cofactor synthesized in the cytosol with the sulfur being provided by a sulfur relay system composed of the L-cysteine desulfurase NFS1, MOCS3, and MOCS2A. Molybdenum blue: Binding to collagen fibres and microcrystal formation

Collagen fibres have been shown by transmission electron microscopy to progressively bind the polyoxomolybdate ring-complex, termed molybdenum blue. Nucleation of cuboidal molybdenum blue microcrystals occurs on the surface of the collagen fibres, leading eventually to extensive coating of the fibres with microcrystals.
