Needle-shape quality control by shadowgraphic image processing
2011
International audience; We propose a needle-shape quality-control method. To this end, we have devised a new acquisition system that combines a camera and a backlight. Needle measurements are carried out at a micrometric scale using shadowgraphic image processing. Our method not only distinguishes good needles from bad ones, but also allows classifying flawed needles into various categories of defects. This classification is important because some categories of defects can affect the entire production, whereas others do not. The results of our needle-shape quality-control method are validated using real samples directly off the manufacturing line. Needles are correctly classified at >97%, a…
Soil erosion rates in Burgundian vineyards.
2006
Burgundian vineyards are affected by erosion phenomena that induce sediment transfer along hillslopes. The vineyard under study has occupied the western Bressan rift border for 1000 years, benefiting from marly limestone bedrock and its silt-sand covering. The combined effects of rainstorms and monoculture on slopes reaching 25°, induce a high level of erosion in the arable soil layer. Quantification of erosion rates on a pluri-decennial scale, using vine roots'as a palaeo-surface marker, has been performed on three parcels on three sites along the Côtes-de-Nuits and Côtes-de-Beaune. Assessed erosion rates of around 1 mm.yr-1 characterise current erosive dynamics involving a critical situat…

Evolution of prodeltas : a print of glacier melting processes
2017
International audience; Coastal evolution in meters from 1966 to 2016 Prodeltas evolution in meters from 1966 to 2012 from side scan mosaics the Shoreline evolution measured by calculation between reference points Ice evolution than processes control coastal high-latitudes and how they will Coastal evolution in meters from 1966 to 2016 Question 1 : What are the effects of the glacier retreat on the hydrographic network ? First results show a decrease of the drainage density and the width of the active band which conducts to a clear concentration of the hydrographic ntework. Question 2 : What is the Kongsfjorden line evolution ? Coastal areas supplied by the hydrographic network become small…

Postglacial changes in fuvial morphologies of the upstream Loire catchment and the middle Cher river valley
2017
International audience; The present study aims to provide new insights of fluvial metamorphosis associated with postglacial environmental changes. Investigations were conducted on different points upstream to downstream of the Loire catchment (Loire itself, Dore river and Cher river). This work allows the role of catchment size to be discussed regarding sensitivity of fluvial environments to climate changes. Topography of the alluvial plain was analyzed using LiDAR DEM. Such datasets show topographic variations highlighting postglacial fluvial patterns and their relative chronology. Boreholes and electrical imaging survey help to estimate the geometry of former channels. Cores collected in …

Jura.
2011
