Influence of synthesis conditions on the morphology of Dodecasil 1H

Abstract The synthesis of Dodecasil 1H was studied in the system SiO2/1-adamantylamin/NH3/water with the objective of controlling the particle size and the morphology of the crystals. Since nucleation occurs in a very early stage of the synthesis, the heating rate to the final temperature and/or holding points during heat up have a strong influence on both parameters. Crystals smaller than 150 μm could only be obtained by the use of seed crystals, which are completely consumed in the synthesis with subsequent new nucleation. Electrical tree growth in EVA-layered silicate nanocomposites

This work deals with the growth of electrical treeing in different EVA-layered silicate nanostructured compounds. The experimental activity evidenced that the intercalated nanocomposites have longer lifetimes than pure EVA under the same constant AC stress conditions. A monitoring of the tree growth morphology allowed to evidence very interesting features of the intercalated nano-compounds showing a barrier effect to the treeing path. A preliminary investigation on the possible arrangement of the filler particles inside the matrix was also carried out.

Abstract. Cryogenic cave carbonate (CCC) represents a specific type of speleothems, whose precipitation is triggered by freezing of mineralized karst water. Coarse-crystalline CCC, which formed during slow freezing of water in cave pools, is known in 20 Central European caves located in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. All these caves are situated in an area, which was glacier-free during the Weichselian. Whereas the formation of usual types of speleothems in caves of this region usually ceased during glacials, CCC precipitation was restricted to glacial periods. The compatibilization mechanism of some compatibilizers for blends of polyolefins with a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) was studied. Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) were blended with a semirigid LCP (SBH) in a batch mixer, either with and without compatibilizers. The latter were two commercially available samples of functionalized polyolefins, that is, a PE-g-MA (HDM) and a PP-g-AA (Polybond 1001) copolymer and some purposely synthesized PE-g-LCP and PP-g-LCP copolymers. BACKGROUND: Human anisakidosis is a parasitic anthropozoonosis caused by larval nematodes of the family Anisakidae. Here, we report a detailed description of the morphology of Anisakis pegreffii third-stage larva performed using a conventional light and confocal microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) that provide a basis for both phenotypic studies and genetic mutations. One potential alternative material to replace hydroxyapatite (HAp) as a coating material for plasma-sprayed coatings on implants for hip replacement is fluorapatite (FAp). FAp has advantages over HAp regarding the capability of being chemically stable during the coating process. This paper proposes a cognitive account on re- and dis- verbs based on the scrutiny of the Plautine corpus and Cato’s De agricultura. Re- and dis- exhibit significant differences as to the manner in which they come to a reversive function, and these differences can be traced back to the basic conceptual import of the two prefixes: while dis- is schematically connected with the idea of separation into two parts, re- basically refers to a rearward/reditive trajectory, connecting a point that has already been reached to the starting point.
