Ojasta allikkoon : ympäristönsuojelukamppailun kuvaus toimijaverkkoteorian keinoin
2017
Tapaustutkimukseni tehtävänä on selvittää, kuinka toimijuudet muodostuvat ympäristönsuojelukamppailussa. Tutkimuksen keskiössä on toimijaverkkoteorian näkökulmasta tarkastella Hyvinkään Kurkisuon kohtalosta käytyä ympäristönsuojelukamppailua ja tutkia miten materiallisen toimijuus vaikuttaa tässä kokonaisuudessa. Toimijaverkoston hahmottelussa käytän apuvälineenä Kurkisuon ympäristövaikutusten arviointi -prosessin (YVA) analysoimista, jonka kautta hahmotan toimijat ja heidän välisiä sidoksiaan. Tutkimukseni aineiston runko tulee YVA-dokumenteista,lisäksi merkittävänä aineistolähteenä on eri tiedotusvälineiden aiheesta tekemät artikkelit, uutisoinnit ja www-julkaisut. Lisäksi yksittäinen tut…
Partnership in civil society : a case of building trust between non-profit associations and international NGOs in Lao PDR
2015
The purpose of this Master's thesis is to develop a context-specific substantive theory of trust building based on the experiences of development workers in Laos, as well as the methods they identify as keys to a better partnership. The research material is based on eleven interviews with civil society development workers in Vientiane, Laos. The study context is partnerships between in-country International Non-Governmental Organizations and local Non-Profit Associations. Grounded theory methods were used to collect, code and analyze the data. From the data categories emerged and were generated into a substantive process model describing how partnership trust is built over time through rela…
With great power comes great responsibilities – Examining platform-based mechanisms and institutional trust in rideshare services
2023
From the perspective of female passengers, much remains unknown about institutional or platform trust and the sharing economy. The present study was conducted in an emerging economy context to comprehend the significance of institutional trust. The study aimed to develop a dynamic theoretical model incorporating the perceived effectiveness of platform-based institutional structures (PEPIS) as a dependent variable in sharing economy platforms, examine the antecedents of PEPIS and determine how PEPIS affects female passengers' trust in the institution or platform. Different strata of female passengers were targeted using a quota-cum-purposive sampling method. In total, 413 useable responses t…
Sponsorointistrategiat, sponsorointikohteiden valinta ja hyödyntäminen
2010
Summertime total OH reactivity measurements from boreal forest during HUMPPA-COPEC 2010
2012
Ambient total OH reactivity was measured at the Finnish boreal forest station SMEAR II in Hyyti¨al¨a (Latitude 61510 N; Longitude 24170 E) in July and August 2010 using the Comparative Reactivity Method (CRM). The CRM – total OH reactivity method – is a direct, in-situ determination of the total loss rate of hydroxyl radicals (OH) caused by all reactive species in air. During the intensive field campaign HUMPPA-COPEC 2010 (Hyyti¨al¨a United Measurements of Photochemistry and Particles in Air – Comprehensive Organic Precursor Emission and Concentration study) the total OH reactivity was monitored both inside (18 m) and directly above the forest canopy (24 m) for the first time. The compariso…
Detector characterization and first coincidence tests of a Compton telescope based on LaBr3 crystals and SiPMs
2011
International audience; A Compton telescope for dose monitoring in hadron therapy consisting of several layers of continuous LaBr3 crystals coupled to silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) arrays is under development within the ENVISION project. In order to test the possibility of employing such detectors for the telescope, a detector head consisting of a continuous 16 mm×18 mm×5 mm LaBr3 crystal coupled to a SiPM array has been assembled and characterized, employing the SPIROC1 ASIC as readout electronics. The best energy resolution obtained at 511 keV is 6.5% FWHM and the timing resolution is 3.1 ns FWHM. A position determination method for continuous crystals is being tested, with promising res…
Comprehensive Analytical Investigation for PV Plants and Their Control System with Reduced Power Electronics Equipments
2012
This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of a power generation system from PV source and it control system with a reduced power equipments connected with a power AC grid. The absence of the boost chopper as an actuator for Maximum Power Point Tracking concurs to make the system more reliable, affordable and moreover cheaper respect to a traditional one in which the boost chopper is used. The mathematical analysis exposed in the paper shows as a three phase inverter has two degrees of freedom allowing the simultaneous MPPT control and the synchronization with the power grid. The analysis also shows the way to determine the duty cycle of the inverter to deliver active power, and eventuall…

The role of negative and positive forms of power in supporting CSR alignment and commitment between large firms and SMEs
2018
Do large firms exert power to shape the CSR behavior of their SME partners?” We answer this question by proposing a model built on the stakeholder theory and the shareholder theory, and go on to explain how this impact influences the commitment of the SME towards their large partner. The model highlights the central role that different forms of power exercised by the large firm play in the process. A survey of 291 SMEs confirms the key hypotheses, including the mediating role of reward power. The effects of coercive power are noteworthy and they illustrate the complex and competing forces at play in influencing CSR behavioral change in SMEs. The research makes a novel contribution to practi…
“Your ride has arrived” – Exploring the nexus between subjective well-being, socio-cultural beliefs, COVID-19, and the sharing economy
2021
This study aimed to identify and explain different facets of the sharing economy and to differentiate between micro- and macro-mobility services. We also aimed to examine the correlation between the sharing economy and subjective well-being, cultural beliefs, and COVID-19. An exploratory research technique with face-to-face semi-structured interviews was used to collect data from a sample of 22 rideshare app users in a developing country between January and May 2020 and in July 2020. The data were analyzed using the NVivo 12 application. The major findings suggest that, considering their scope and use, sharing economy technology and services can be divided into four major domains: (1) hospi…
