Uneven modulation of the annexin 1 system in osteoblast-like cells by dexamethasone

AbstractWe tested whether glucocorticoids modulated osteoblast expression of the annexin 1 system, including the ligand and two G-coupled receptors termed formyl-peptide receptor (FPR) and FPR-like-1 (FPRL-1). In Saos-2 cells, rapid up-regulation of FPR mRNA upon cell incubation with dexamethasone (0.01–1μM) was observed, with significant changes as early as 2h and a more marked response at 24h; annexin 1 and FPRL-1 mRNA changes were more subtle. At the protein level, dexamethasone provoked a rapid externalization of annexin 1 (maximal at 2h) followed by delayed time-dependent changes in the cell cytosol. Whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WB-MRI) in oncology: an Italian survey.

Purpose: To perform a survey among all members of the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM) to assess how whole-body MRI (WB-MRI) is performed in oncologic patients in Italy. Methods: On March 2019, we administered an online poll to all SIRM members about their use of WB-MRI in 2018 asking 15 questions regarding oncologic indications, imaging protocol, use of contrast media, experience in WB-MRI, duration of scan time and reporting time. Effects of nicotine on motor activity, passive avoidance and plus-maze behavior in aged NMRI and C57BL mice

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effects of nicotine (0.35 and 0.175 mg/kg) on locomotor activity, passive avoidance and plus maze behavior in aged mice of two strains (C57BL and NMRI). In a first experiment, aged mice of these strains were injected with nicotine or saline and immediately afterwards were put on the actimeter. Results showed that nicotine significantly decreased locomotor activity in C57 mice. In a second experiment, nicotine was administered before training and retention sessions of a passive avoidance task.
