Sterically crowded triazenides as novel ancillary ligands in copper chemistry

2011

Abstract We have synthesized copper salts MN3RR′ derived from the biphenyl- or m-terphenyl-substituted triazenes Tph2N3H (1a) and Dmp(Tph)N3H (1b) (Dmp = 2,6-Mes2C6H3 with Mes = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2; Tph = 2-TripC6H4 with Trip = 2,4,6-i-Pr3C6H2). The homoleptic copper triazenide [CuN3Tph2] (2a) was obtained in high yield from the metallation of 1a with mesityl copper in n-heptane, while the complex [CuN3(Dmp)Tph] (2b) was generated by the same method in situ only. Reaction of 2a with triphenylphosphane gave the 2:1 adduct [CuN3Tph2(PPh3)2] (3a), regardless of the used complex/donor ratio, while reaction of 2a or 2b with a stochiometric amount of t-butylisonitrile afforded the 1:1 adducts [Tph2N3Cu…

Hybrid ferrocene ligands (P, N) : synthesis, coordination to metals and applications in arylation coupling catalysis

2017

The research theme developed during this thesis concerns the development of new hybrid ferrocene hybrid (P, N) ligands with controlled conformation, robust and stable to air. These hybrid tetradent ligands comprise two types of coordinating functions with distinct steric and electronic properties. Their coordination chemistry with metals such as gold or palladium has been studied and some isolated Au (I) complexes have been used in the arylation coupling catalysis of aryl iodides.

Study of the Curing Process of DGEBA Epoxy Resin Through Structural Investigation

2015

In this work, a multi-scale approach with different analytical methods is applied to study the curing process and the structural properties of a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) epoxy resin. This monomer, thermally cured using 4,4′-diaminodiphenilsulfone (DDS) as hardener, is analyzed after 10, 45, 90, and 120 min of reaction time at 180 °C to obtain information on samples with different cross-linking densities. Samples are also characterized after extraction in acetone in order to obtain structural information on the insoluble parts. For this purpose, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA), solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (ss-NMR),…

The preventive care of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ): a position paper by Italian experts for dental hygienists

2022

Abstract Purpose The prevention and early diagnosis of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is fundamental to reducing the incidence and progression of MRONJ. Many in the field believe that dental hygienists should play an integral role in primary and secondary MRONJ prevention. However, to date, very few publications in the literature have proposed standardised MRONJ protocols, which are dedicated to dental hygienists. The aim of this study was to provide guidance to the health care providers managing MRONJ. Methods The expert opinion in this study was developed by dental hygienists from the main Italian technical-scientific associations (Italian Dental Hygienists Associatio…

One changing and challenging scenario: the treatment of cancer patients with bone metastases by bisphosphonates and denosumab, the cost-benefit evalu…

2022

Antiresorptive drugs (bisphosphonates and denosumab) have become the cornerstone of medical supportive treatment of bone metastases in solid cancer patients. In the beginning, the choice of available antiresorptive agents was limited to bisphosphonates and the treatment options restricted principally to monthly pamidronate and monthly zoledronic acid. Introduction of new antiresorptive therapies (monthly denosumab) and schedules (zoledronic acid every 3 months, upfront or after initial period of monthly infusion) in the last decade increased the range of available options, thus challenging treatment decision making. Direct and indirect costs of very different treatment options are difficult…

Intraoral onlay block bone grafts versus cortical tenting technique on alveolar ridge augmentations: a systematic review

2021

To review systematically the bone gain and superficial resorption rate of the onlay block bone grafts versus the cortical tenting technique, as well as secondarily study the postoperative complications, implant survival and success rates, and peri-implant marginal bone loss. Following the recommended methods for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA), an electronic search was performed in the PubMed (MEDLINE), EMBASE and the Cochrane Library of the Cochrane Collaboration (CENTRAL) databases to identify all relevant articles published up to March 2021 on onlay block bone grafts and cortical tenting technique. Eighteen papers complied with the inclusion criteria. In onlay grafts, the v…

Glenoid bone loss in anterior shoulder dislocation: a multicentric study to assess the most reliable imaging method

2022

Purpose: The aim of this multicentric study was to assess which imaging method has the best inter-reader agreement for glenoid bone loss quantification in anterior shoulder instability. A further aim was to calculate the inter-method agreement comparing bilateral CT with unilateral CT and MR arthrography (MRA) with CT measurements. Finally, calculations were carried out to find the least time-consuming method. Method: A retrospective evaluation was performed by 9 readers (or pairs of readers) on a consecutive series of 110 patients with MRA and bilateral shoulder CT. Each reader was asked to calculate the glenoid bone loss of all patients using the following methods: best fit circle area on…

MRONJ in breast cancer patients under bone modifying agents for cancer treatment-induced bone loss (CTIBL): a multi-hospital-based case series

2023

Abstract Background Cancer treatment-induced bone loss (CTIBL) is the most common adverse event experienced by patients affected by breast cancer (BC) patients, without bone metastases. Bone modifying agents (BMAs) therapy is prescribed for the prevention of CTIBL, but it exposes patients to the risk of MRONJ. Methods This multicentre hospital-based retrospective study included consecutive non-metastatic BC patients affected by MRONJ related to exposure to low-dose BMAs for CTIBL prevention. Patients’ data were retrospectively collected from the clinical charts of seven recruiting Italian centres. Results MRONJ lesions were found in fifteen females (mean age 67.5 years), mainly in the mandi…

Accessing finite momentum excitations of the one-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model using superlattice modulation spectroscopy

2018

We investigate the response to superlattice modulation of a bosonic quantum gas confined to arrays of tubes emulating the one-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model. We demonstrate, using both time-dependent density matrix renormalization group and linear response theory, that such a superlattice modulation gives access to the excitation spectrum of the Bose-Hubbard model at finite momenta. Deep in the Mott-insulator, the response is characterized by a narrow energy absorption peak at a frequency approximately corresponding to the onsite interaction strength between bosons. This spectroscopic technique thus allows for an accurate measurement of the effective value of the interaction strength. On th…
