Behavioral impact of experience based on environmental enrichment: Influence of age and duration of exposure in male NMRI mice

Prior studies have suggested that short periods of exposure to environmental enrichment (EE) in rodents induce physiological and behavioral effects. In the present study, our aim was to evaluate if the impact of experiences based on EE could be modulated by the age of onset and the developmental period of exposure. Differentiation of benign and malignant lymph nodes in pediatric patients on ferumoxytol-enhanced PET/MRI.

The composition of lymph nodes in pediatric patients is different from that in adults. Most notably, normal lymph nodes in children contain less macrophages. Therefore, previously described biodistributions of iron oxide nanoparticles in benign and malignant lymph nodes of adult patients may not apply to children. MRI findings and genotype analysis in patients with childhood onset growth hormone deficiency--correlation with severity of hypopituitarism.

Aim: To evaluate the relationship between pituitary size, PIT1 and PROP1 genotype, and the severity of childhood onset growth hormone deficiency (coGHD). Patients: Forty-four patients with coGHD (34 M; 9.7 ± 4.1 years): severe isolated (SI) GHD (n = 14); partial isolated (PI) GHD (n = 13); multiple pituitary hormone deficiencies (MPHD) (n=17). Results: Pituitary abnormalities were found in 7/14 patients with SIGHD (50%), 16/17 patients with MPHD (94.1%), and no patient with PIGHD. A cervical myelopathy with a Hirayama disease-like phenotype

A 21-year-old man with a muscular atrophy of the left distal upper extremity is presented. The disorder had been progressive over a few years, showing an exacerbation of the hand's weakness when the patient worked in a chilled environment (i.e., in a cold room). The patient's diagnostic work-up was extensive and the MRI documented the presence of a cervical myelopathy, associated to an inversion of the physiological lordosis at the C5-C6 level, with a phenotype highly resembling Hirayama disease.
