Estimation of total electricity consumption curves of small areas by sampling in a finite population
2016
International audience; Many studies carried out in the French electricity company EDF are based on the analysis of the total electricity consumption curves of groups of customers. These aggregated electricity consumption curves are estimated by using samples of thousands of curves measured at a small time step and collected according to a sampling design. Small area estimation is very usual in survey sampling. It is often addressed by using implicit or explicit domain models between the interest variable and the auxiliary variables. The goal here is to estimate totals of electricity consumption curves over domains or areas. Three approaches are compared: the rst one consists in modeling th…
A Derivation of the Vlasov-Stokes System for Aerosol Flows from the Kinetic Theory of Binary Gas Mixtures
2016
In this short paper, we formally derive the thin spray equation for a steady Stokes gas, i.e. the equation consists in a coupling between a kinetic (Vlasov type) equation for the dispersed phase and a (steady) Stokes equation for the gas. Our starting point is a system of Boltzmann equations for a binary gas mixture. The derivation follows the procedure already outlined in [Bernard-Desvillettes-Golse-Ricci, arXiv:1608.00422 [math.AP]] where the evolution of the gas is governed by the Navier-Stokes equation.
Gramsci e la biopolitica
2016
Contrasting Effects of Chronic Anthropogenic Disturbance on Activity and Species Richness of Insectivorous Bats in Neotropical Dry Forest
2022
For prioritizing conservation actions, it is vital to understand how ecologically diverse species respond to environmental change caused by human activity. This is particularly necessary considering that chronic human disturbance is a threat to biodiversity worldwide. Depending on how species tolerate and adapt to such disturbance, ecological integrity and ecosystem services will be more or less affected. Bats are a species-rich and functionally diverse group, with important roles in ecosystems, and are therefore recognized as a good model group for assessing the impact of environmental change. Their populations have decreased in several regions, especially in the tropics, and are threatene…

Determination of trace elements in gluten-free food for celiac people by ICP-MS
2014
Abstract This paper is the first analytical approach to the study of twenty heavy metals in the gluten-free foods for celiac people. Only the ICP-MS technique was used. One of the advantages about the use of ICP-MS for this characterization is the high sensitivity that improved the limits of quantification levels for some elements that are present at low quantities in some samples. The concentration values of As, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Sn, V and Zn in seventeen gluten-free food samples are reported. The highest arsenic and molybdenum levels were measured in Rice noodle from China (0.088 and 0.47 mg kg − 1 , respectively). The highest concentrations of some metal…
A critical assessment of methods for the determination of the shear stress amplitude in multiaxial fatigue criteria belonging to critical plane class
2015
Abstract Multiaxial high cycle fatigue criteria based on the critical plane approach necessitate unambiguous definitions of the amplitude and mean value of the shear stress (τa and τm) acting on the material planes. Four of the existing definitions relate the values of τa and τm to a geometrical element of the curve described by the tip of the shear stress vector (curve Ψ), respectively, the radius of the Minimum Circumscribed Circle, the Longest Chord, the Longest Projection, the diagonal of the Maximum Rectangular Hull (MRH). In this paper a critical assessment of the above definitions is proposed, focusing on that based on the concept of MRH, which is the most recently developed. The mai…
Noninvasive evaluation of the celiac trunk and superior mesenteric artery with multislice CT in patients with chronic mesenteric ischaemia.
2008
This study sought to assess the role of multislice computed tomography (MSCT) in patients with suspected chronic mesenteric ischaemia (CMI). Forty-five patients (29 men; mean age 68) underwent MSCT angiography of the abdomen for suspected CMI (main clinical finding: postprandial abdominal pain). The scan protocol was detectors/collimation 16/0.75 mm; feed 36 mm/s; rotation time 500 ms; increment 0.4 mm; 120-150 mAs and 120 kVp. A volume of 80 ml of contrast material was administered through an antecubital vein (rate 4 ml/s), followed by 40 ml of saline (rate 4 ml/s). Images were analysed on the workstation with different algorithms (axial image scrolling, multiplanar reconstructions, maximu…
Integrability of the one dimensional Schrödinger equation
2018
We present a definition of integrability for the one dimensional Schroedinger equation, which encompasses all known integrable systems, i.e. systems for which the spectrum can be explicitly computed. For this, we introduce the class of rigid functions, built as Liouvillian functions, but containing all solutions of rigid differential operators in the sense of Katz, and a notion of natural boundary conditions. We then make a complete classification of rational integrable potentials. Many new integrable cases are found, some of them physically interesting.
Invariant deformation theory of affine schemes with reductive group action
2015
We develop an invariant deformation theory, in a form accessible to practice, for affine schemes $W$ equipped with an action of a reductive algebraic group $G$. Given the defining equations of a $G$-invariant subscheme $X \subset W$, we device an algorithm to compute the universal deformation of $X$ in terms of generators and relations up to a given order. In many situations, our algorithm even computes an algebraization of the universal deformation. As an application, we determine new families of examples of the invariant Hilbert scheme of Alexeev and Brion, where $G$ is a classical group acting on a classical representation, and describe their singularities.
