Northern Tungus migrations in the Far East: Goldi and their ethnical affinities
1926
"From The Journal of the North China Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, Volume LVII.-1926."
Proposal of an exploitation method of a national database, the PMSI, to estimate the frequency of the abused children in France, from 0 to 5 years ol…
2017
Importance: Childhood abuse is a global public health issue yet there is a serious lack of reliable epidemiological data and the figures reported are very often underestimated. A large part of these children are not diagnosed. Moreover, diagnosed children are not recorded in a single database. Objective: The aim of this study is to provide two estimations of the frequency of child physical abuse requiring hospitalization (hospital prevalence) and the corresponding in-hospital fatality. Design, setting and participants: This was a national retrospective study using a national hospital database (PMSI).We included all children aged less than 2 years old hospitalized at least once in France from…
Patterns of genomic instability in gastric cancer: clinical implications and perspectives
2007
In gastric cancer (GC) the loss of genomic stability represents a key molecular step that occurs early in the carcinogenesis process and creates a permissive environment for the accumulation of genetic and epigenetic alterations in tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes. It is widely accepted that GC can follow at least two major genomic instability pathways, microsatellite instability (MSI) and chromosome instability (CIN). MSI is responsible for a well-defined subset of GCs. CIN represents a more common pathway comprising heterogeneous subsets of GC. In addition to MSI and CIN, the CpG islands methylator phenotype (CIMP) plays an important role in gastric carcinogenesis. CIMP may lead to th…
IL-4-mediated drug resistance in colon cancer stem cells
2008
Cancer stem cells are defined as cells able to both extensively self-renew and differentiate into progenitors. Cancer stem cells are thus likely to be responsible for maintaining or spreading a cancer, and may be the most relevant targets for cancer therapy. The CD133 glycoprotein was recently described as a reliable cancer stem-like cell marker in colon carcinoma. CD133+ cells are both necessary and sufficient to initiate tumour growth in animal models. The CD133+ cell population and spheroid cultures contain cells expressing the stem cell marker Musashi-1 which is involved in maintenance of stem cell fate in several tissues and importantly, this expression is maintained in stem-like cells…
Hospitalizations of patients in Burgundy and in nine other french regions, spatial analysis of interregional flows from french hospital claims data
2015
Introduction / presentation of the context : The creation of ARS (Regional Healthcare Agencies) was accompanied by the regionalized organization of healthcare. Even though the administrative procedures for dividing the country into areas for healthcare coverage are well known, we propose a geographic analysis of the reasons why patients attend one hospital rather than another, which seem to escape the logic used by the authorities. Methods employed and sources of data : Using the PMSI-MCO, we studied the flow of patients living in one region to hospitals in other regions according to ten reasons for visiting hospitals. The analysis was completed by a cartographic analysis, which related the …
Clinical characteristics of pancreatic and biliary tract cancers in Lynch syndrome : A retrospective analysis from the Finnish National Lynch Syndrom…
2023
IntroductionPatients with Lynch syndrome (LS) have an increased lifetime risk of pancreatic cancer (PC) and biliary tract cancer (BTC). These cancers have a notoriously pessimistic prognosis due to late diagnosis and limited therapeutic options. There are limited data based on small cohorts reviewing PC and BTC in LS patients.MethodsIn this retrospective study of the Lynch Syndrome Registry of Finland (LSRFi), records of genetically verified LS patients diagnosed with PC or BTC between 1982 and 2020 were analyzed.ResultsThirty-nine patients were included: tumor(s) were in the pancreas in 26 patients, in the biliary tract in 10, and in the ampulla of Vater in three. A pathogenic germline var…
Ibrutinib versus temsirolimus in patients with relapsed or refractory mantle-cell lymphoma : an international, randomised, open-label, phase 3 study
2016
Mantle-cell lymphoma is an aggressive B-cell lymphoma with a poor prognosis. Both ibrutinib and temsirolimus have shown single-agent activity in patients with relapsed or refractory mantle-cell lymphoma. We undertook a phase 3 study to assess the efficacy and safety of ibrutinib versus temsirolimus in relapsed or refractory mantle-cell lymphoma. This randomised, open-label, multicentre, phase 3 clinical trial enrolled patients with relapsed or refractory mantle-cell lymphoma confirmed by central pathology in 21 countries who had received one or more rituximab-containing treatments. Patients were stratified by previous therapy and simplified mantle-cell lymphoma international prognostic index…
Behavioural correlates of early-treated congenital hypothyroidism
2007
Parents' and teachers' ratings were used to evaluate the behavioural characteristics of children with early-treated congenital hypothyroidism (CH). Comparisons were made between 63 children with early-treated CH and 34 healthy controls at the ages of 7.5 and 9.5 y. Additional comparisons were made between the two largest CH subgroups (thyroid agenesis, thyroid dysgenesis) and controls. The most marked differences were found on the introversion cluster and the motor clumsiness scale within it. Children with CH, particularly those with thyroid agenesis, showed introversion and motor clumsiness rather than social negativity and inattention. It is suggested that this behavioural profile may wel…
Safety and efficacy of Temsirolimus in combination with Bendamustine and Rituximab in relapsed mantle cell and follicular lymphoma
2015
In this phase I/II study, we explored the combination of Temsirolimus with Bendamustine and Rituximab (BeRT) in patients with r/r follicular lymphoma (FL) or mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Patients with 1-3 prior therapies received Bendamustine (90 mg/m(2), day 1+2) and Rituximab (375 mg/m(2), day 1) with Temsirolimus in doses from 25 to 75 mg added on day 1, 8, 15 of a 28-day cycle. Fifteen (11 MCL, 4 FL) patients were included in the phase I. Median age was 73 years and median pretreatment number was 2. No formal dose-limiting toxicity was observed. Dominant non-hematological side effects were fatigue in 11 (73%), nausea in 9 (60%), mucositis in 7 (47%) and vomiting in 6 patients (40%). Coug…
The use of national administrative data to describe the spatial distribution of in-hospital mortality following stroke in France, 2008-2011.
2016
International audience; Background: In the context of implementing the National Stroke Plan in France, a spatial approach was used to measure inequalities in this disease. Using the national PMSI-MCO databases, we analyzed the in-hospital prevalence of stroke and established a map of in-hospital mortality rates with regard to the socio-demographic structure of the country. Methods: The principal characteristics of patients identified according to ICD10 codes relative to stroke (in accordance with earlier validation work) were studied. A map of standardized mortality rates at the level of PMSI geographic codes was established. An exploratory analysis (principal component analysis followed by …
