Alternariol-induced cytotoxicity in Caco-2 cells. Protective effect of the phenolic fraction from virgin olive oil.

The extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has been associated to antioxidant effects. The mycotoxin alternariol (AOH) can contaminate olives. The aims of this work were to determine the cytotoxic effects and reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by AOH, tyrosol and oleuropein (two polyphenols of olive oil) and a real EVOO extract in Caco-2 cells. The MTT assay and the ROS production by the H2-DCFDA probe were used. Results demonstrated that AOH reduces cellular proliferation depending on concentration, whereas tyrosol and oleuropein did not (12.5-100 μM). Balstoties Pjēra Burdjē idejās par maskulīno dominanci un praksi, pētījumā tiek apskatīts, kā uzskati par dzimumu līdztiesību atšķiras no prakses heteroseksuālos pāros, un, kā dzimumu līdztiesība pastiprina maskulīno dominanci. Astoņās daļēji strukturētās intervijās un divās video-dienasgrāmatās es pētu izpratni par dzimumu līdztiesību, tās definīciju un mājsaimniecības darbu sadalījumu, meklējot nesakritības izpratnē un praksē. Maskulīnā dominance nostiprinās formālās dzimumu līdztiesības dēļ, jo tā ir mazāk saistīta ar dzimumu līdztiesību praksē. Visbiežākais trūkstošais posms starp izpratni un praksi ir habitus un neapzināta dzimumu lomu atveidošana.

Caur dzimtes lomām ir iespējams veidot un pamatot noteiktu kārtību sabiedrībā. Maģistra darbs aplūko veidus, kā Rīgas bezpajumtnieki pilsētas vidē veido savu personisko telpu apmetņu formā. Pētījumā lietotas etnogrāfiskās metodes, kā līdzdalīgais novērojums, līdzdošanās un padziļinātās intervijas, lai pievērstos dažādām apmetņu materiālo apstākļu dimensijām bezpajumtnieku ikdienas dzīvē. Pētījuma centrālais arguments atklāj, ka apmetnes veido paplašinātu ķermenisko telpu, kas ne tik daudz raksturo personu, bet plašākus sabiedrības sociāli ekoloģiskos procesus. The "Historia de la doncella Teodor" in Burgos’ Printing Press: Regarding a New Edition from Juan de Junta’s Workshop, c. 1535-1540

En este trabajo se da noticia y se lleva a cabo el estudio tipobibliográfico de una edición sine notis de la Historia de la doncella Teodor. El análisis permite identificar la impresión en Burgos en el taller de Juan de Junta, c. 1535-1540. El rasgo material que singulariza este impreso es que la última hoja del primer cuaderno ha sido remedada por una copia manuscrita que no solo reproduce la tipografía original, sino también, a plumilla, las estampas. El estudio textual e iconográfico nos permitirá identificar la fuente del folio contrahecho.

OBJECTIVE AND METHODS: In this study we investigated the effects of two common polymorphism of the PCSK9 gene (E670G and I474V) on the intima media thickness of the common carotid artery and the possible relation with polymorphisms of apolipoprotein E in 1541 middle aged subjects selected from the general population enrolled in the PLIC study and confirmed the major findings in a second free-living population enrolled in the Ventimiglia study. Polychromatic femtosecond fluorescence studies of metal–polypyridine complexes in solution

Femtosecond-resolved broadband fluorescence studies are reported for[ M(bpy)(3)](2+) (M = Fe, Ru), RuN3 and RuN719 complexes in solution. We investigated the pump wavelength dependence of the fluorescence of aqueous [ Fe(bpy)(3)](2+) and the solvent and ligand dependence of the fluorescence of Ru-complexes excited at 400 nm. For all complexes, the (MLCT)-M-1 fluorescence appears at zero time delay with a mirror-like image with respect to the absorption. It decays in <= 30-45 fs due to intersystem crossing to the (MLCT)-M-3 states, but a longer lived component of similar to 190 fs additionally shows up in RuN719 and RuN3. Abstract The sarcophagus containing the remains of Federico II, located in the Cathedral of Palermo (Sicily, Italy), was opened on 1998 to perform a multidisciplinary survey [1]. Next to the remains of Federico II and in close contact with them were laying two other skeletons belonging, according to historical records, to Pietro II di Aragona and to an anonymous person (“The Third Individual”), probably a woman. The bones appeared severely deteriorated. Chemical analysis performed on bone samples excluded that the bodies underwent some kind of embalming process. International audience; The objective of this study was to evaluate the biological activities of the major phytosterols present in argan oil (AO) and in cactus seed oil (CSO) in BV2 microglial cells. Accordingly, we first determined the sterol composition of AO and CSO, showing the presence of Schottenol and Spinasterol as major sterols in AO. While in CSO, in addition to these two sterols, we found mainly another sterol, the Sitosterol. The chemical synthesis of Schottenol and Spinasterol was performed.
