Distribución mutacional y correlación genotipo-fenotipo del síndrome de Charcot-Marie-Tooth en la Comunidad Valenciana
2015
CORRELATION BETWEEN THE CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF CNT AND MACROSCOPIC PROPERTIES OF RELATED NANOCOMPOSITES: A STATISTICAL APPROACH
2014
In the frame of this work, two different samples of CNTs, namely CNT 1 and CNT 2, were synthesized [1] with different degree of purity and aspect ratio and used as fillers either without any treatment or after a plasma-oxidation, to prepare polycarbonate (PC)-based nanocomposites by melt mixing. The influence of plasma treatment, filler content and type of CNTs on the mechanical, dynamic-mechanical, and electrical properties of the materials was assessed by a two level full factorial design. The morphological analysis carried out by SEM and TEM evidenced the formation of a nanohybrid structure when oxidized CNTs were used as filler. Generally speaking, CNT 2 showed the best dispersion and t…
Shaping of a ground state rotational wavepacket by frequency-chirped pulses
2001
0953-4075; A coherent rotational superposition state is produced in the ground vibronic level of N2 through the interaction of the molecule with the electric field vector of a nonresonant laser pulse. This rotational wavepacket is shaped with a linear frequency chirp of the laser field. The structural shape of the rotational coherences shows a strong dependence with the frequency-chirp amplitude. A comparison with a theoretical model allows the interpretation of the observed effects in terms of dephasing of the wavepacket induced by the laser phase distortion. Application of the presented results to the phase characterization of short XUV pulses is suggested.
Análisis genómico funcional de la resistencia a las terapias anti-EGFR asociada al fenotipo mesenquimal en el cáncer pulmonar.
2017
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in western countries. It is highly resistant to the conventional therapy, metastatic and with a 5-years survival rate of 15% for the most predominant histological subtype, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The improvements of genetic diagnosis, along with the latest advances in the design of chemicals inhibiting molecules targets (usually protein kinases), have provided a significant clinical benefit for a small subsets of patients whose tumors have activating mutations in genes encoding target proteins (called oncogenic drivers) critical for tumor progression such as ALK, MET, and EGFR in NSCLC. Specific inhibitors targeting tyrosine kinas…
A NOVEL APPROACH IN COLORECTAL CANCER AND DIABETES MANAGEMENT: ROLE OF METFORMIN AND RAPAMYCIN
Abstract The link between colorectal cancer (CRC), diabetes mellitus (DM) and inflammation is well established, and polytherapy, including rapamycin, has been commonly adopted. However, due to the relatively weak response of CRC to rapamycin, combination with other molecules including metformin has become a potentially promising approach. This study is a novel approach that aimed at assessing the effect of a combination therapy of metformin and rapamycin on the control or prevention of colorectal cancer in diabetic animals, in presence or absence of probiotics. Fifty NOD/SCIDs male mice developed xenograft by inoculating HCT116 cells into the flank; they were equally divided into diabetics …
CVG-ICP-OES -menetelmän käyttö elohopean analysointiin eläinkudoksesta
2015
Tässä Pro gradu –tutkielmassa käsitellään elohopean määritystä eläinkudoksesta kemiallinen höyryn muodostus induktiivisesti kytketty plasma optinen emissio spektrometria –menetelmällä (CVG-ICP-OES) ja siihen liittyvää näytteenkäsittelyä. Tutkimuksen kirjallisessa osassa käydään läpi muun muassa eri näytteenliuotusmenetelmiä, analyysimenetelmiä, tutkittavien metallien pelkistämistä CVG-ICP-OES –analyysiä varten ja CVG-ICP-OES –analyysissä esiintyviä häiriöitä. Näytteenliuotusosassa keskitytään pääasiassa tutkimuksessa käytetyn ultraäänihajotuksen esittelyyn, tämän lisäksi myös muita yleisiä näytteenliuotusmenetelmiä esitetään. Analyysimenetelmä osiossa suurin huomio keskittyy ICP-OES –laitte…
Fluid geochemistry in a low-enthalpy geothermal field along a sector of southern Apennines chain (Italy)
2020
Abstract The chemical and isotopic features of the fluids (water and gases) in the Lucane thermal area (southern Italy) have been investigated in order to verify their origin, water temperature in the geothermal reservoir, and to recognize the main natural processes concerning the water composition during ascent towards the surface. The Lucane geothermal system is placed in the southern sector of the Apennines chains, a seismically active area, close to the southern base of the Mt. Alpi carbonate massif. Along the study area, two main sets of high-angle faults form an almost orthogonal fault system that, as suggested by local structural geology, acts as a preferential pathway for uprising d…
Camtasia Studio, creació d’animacions multimèdia educatives
2009

Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors (PARPi) are a highly active family of compounds that have changed the scenario in ovarian and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) non-amplified breast cancer management in the recent years. Despite impressive clinical activity, a prolonged treatment with PARPi is frequently associated with acquired resistance to this therapy. The identification of mechanisms and strategies to overcome resistance are crucial. Bromodomain containing 4 (BRD4) is a member of the bromodomain and extraterminal (BET) protein family that facilitates oncogenic transcription. BRD4 is frequently amplified in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) and can be …
Novel pathway in Bcr-Abl signal transduction involves Akt-independent, PLC-γ1-driven activation of mTOR/p70S6-kinase pathway
2009
In chronic myeloid leukemia, activation of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt pathway is crucial for survival and proliferation of leukemic cells. Essential downstream molecules involve mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and S6-kinase. Here, we present a comprehensive analysis of the molecular events involved in activation of these key signaling pathways. We provide evidence for a previously unrecognized phospholipase C-gamma1 (PLC-gamma1)-controlled mechanism of mTOR/p70S6-kinase activation, which operates in parallel to the classical Akt-dependent machinery. Short-term imatinib treatment of Bcr-Abl-positive cells caused dephosphorylation of p70S6-K and S6-protein without inactivat…
