Food intolerance and chronic constipation: manometry and histology study

BACKGROUND: Chronic constipation in children can be caused by cows' milk intolerance (CMI), but its pathogenesis is unknown. AIMS: To evaluate the histology and manometry pattern in patients with food intolerance-related constipation. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Thirty-six consecutive children with chronic constipation were enrolled. All underwent an elimination diet and successive double-blind food challenge. All underwent rectal biopsy and anorectal manometry. RESULTS: A total of 14 patients were found to be suffering from CMI and three from multiple food intolerance. Successful Endoscopic Resection of an Esophageal Metastasis from a Preceding Squamous-Cell Tonsillar Carcinoma

This report describes the case of a 62-year-old man with tonsillar carcinoma who had undergone esophagectomy due to an esophageal metastasis. Subsequently, a second metastasis occurred in the residual esophagus, and he presented for evaluation for local endoscopic therapy. The initial upper endoscopy revealed a type IIa - c lesion at 21 cm from the incisors, within a segment suspicious for Barrett's mucosa. As part of the complex treatment approach in this patient, endoscopic resection of the lesion was carried out using the suck-and-cut technique with ligation. Lingual mucosal grafts for anterior urethroplasty: a review

We critically reviewed recent reports of lingual mucosal grafts (LMGs) for substitution urethroplasty, to determine the efficacy and complications of this approach. Only a few centres have published the short or interim outcome of LMG urethroplasty. These studies dealt mainly with surgical techniques and harvesting LMGs, emphasizing the comparison of different intra-oral donor sites. The preliminary results seem to be encouraging for the safety and efficacy of LMG urethroplasty. When compared with other substitute materials, LMG give equally good results with much easier harvesting and minimal donor site morbidity. Background The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of oral lesions in the floor of the mouth from representative oral pathology centres in Latin America. Material and Methods This study was conducted on biopsies obtained from January of 1978 to December of 2018 at nine Latin America oral and maxillofacial pathology centres. Gender, age and histopathological diagnosis were evaluated. Data were analysed using descriptive methods. Chi-square test was used for pairwise comparisons.
