"Kauhavan veri vapisee" : kauhavalaisten representointi vastaanottokeskusta käsittelevissä verkkouutisissa

Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastelen syksyn 2015 aikana julkaistuja verkkouutisia, jotka liittyvät Kauhavalle perustettuun vastaanottokeskukseen. Erityisesti tarkastelen uutisissa kauhavalaisista luotuja representaatioita. Tutkimuskysymykseni ovat: ”Miten uutisissa representoidaan kauhavalaisia ja kauhavalaisuutta?” ja ”Millä keinoilla representaatioita uutisissa rakennetaan?” Euroopan pakolaiskriisi on ollut syksyn 2015 yksi tärkeimmistä uutisaiheista Suomessa ja koko Euroopassa. Maahanmuuton kysymykset ovat puhuttaneet suomalaisia jo ennen kriisin puhkeamista, ja aihe on noussut 2000-luvun aikana myös merkittäväksi poliittiseksi teemaksi. Pro gradu -tutkielma ”Maahanmuuttajien representaatiot Venäjän sanomalehdistössä” tarkas-telee niitä siirtolaisten representaatioita, jotka ilmenevät venäläisissä mediateksteissä vuoden 2009 alussa. Tutkimuksen päämääränä on selvittää, millaisia representaatioita aineistosta on mahdollista löytää; millaisin kielellisin keinoin siirtolaisia kuvataan, sekä millaisia ideologisia merkityksiä ja suhteita voidaan representaatioista löytää. Tutkimusaineistonani on Integrum -tietokannasta kerätyt 49 artikkelia kuudesta suuresta venä-läisestä sanomalehdestä. Genreltään aineisto edustaa lähinnä uutisia, artikkeleita sekä haas-tatteluja. Abstract Though geographically distant from each other, Portugal and Finland present an interesting comparison concerning the policies and devices of asylum. Both provide an informed and critical appraisal of the current international response to the refugee issue, especially considering the European Union. Resistance Is Useless! (And So Are Resilience and Reworking): Migrants in the Finnish Labour Market

AbstractIn Finland, integration is discussed in terms of labour market success. Finding work tends to occur in the ‘secondary’ labour market as migrants have difficulty accessing the more secure jobs of the ‘primary’ labour market. This chapter draws on 11 qualitative biographical narratives of migrants and refugees, looking for turning points and epiphanies about their job-seeking experiences. We classify these as agentic acts of resilience, reworking, and resistance, borrowing from Cindi Katz’s framework. Within the current political context of global migration the concept of ‘identity’ has played a major role in the struggle between assimilative and exclusionary practices and policies. Such policies in many cases are the result of a wronged imagination about human identity and the subjects who possess it. In my master’s thesis I conceptualize ‘resilient identity’ as an innovative and highly needed approach to studying today’s constantly transforming subjectivity. Through the analysis of the self-narratives of Russian-speaking female immigrants in Italy, I explore how ‘resilience of identity’ is constructed and manifests itself.
