We report on the results of magnetic susceptibility, electron paramagnetic resonance, and $^{207}\mathrm{Pb}$ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies of the magnetoelectric multiferroic $\mathrm{Pb}(\mathrm{F}{\mathrm{e}}_{1/2}\mathrm{S}{\mathrm{b}}_{1/2}){\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ (PFS) ceramic, as well as its solid solution with $\mathrm{Pb}(\mathrm{F}{\mathrm{e}}_{1/2}\mathrm{N}{\mathrm{b}}_{1/2}){\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ (PFN) of different degrees of the 1:1 ordering of magnetic $\mathrm{F}{\mathrm{e}}^{3+}$ and nonmagnetic $\mathrm{S}{\mathrm{b}}^{5+}$ ions. Pore fabric geometry inferred from magnetic and acoustic anisotropies in rocks with various mineralogy, permeability and porosity.

We applied this method on different types of rocks (sandstones and carbonates) with a range of different porosity values (10-30%) and permeability (1 mD to 1 D). Hydrogen bonding versus π-stacking in ferromagnetic interactions. Studies on a copper triazolopyridine complex

Magnetic susceptibility measurements show weak ferromagnetic exchange between the copper(II) ions of a novel triazolopyridine derivative [Cu(TPT)(H2O)2(BF4)](BF4)·2H2O (TPT = 3-{6-([1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrid-3-yl)-2-pyridyl}-[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine). Mononuclear [Cu(TPT)(H2O)2(BF4)]+ entities are connected through O–H⋯F, C–H⋯F and π⋯π interactions to give a 3D framework. Ferromagnetic properties are discussed on the basis of the interactions network.

Flux growth at 1230 °C of cubic Tb2O3 single crystals and characterization of their optical and magnetic properties

International audience; In this work, we present the first crystal growth of cubic Tb2O3 single crystals by a controlled atmosphere flux method which uses a heavy metal free solvent working at less than half the melting temperature of this sesquioxide. Cubic millimeter-sized crystals extracted from as-grown boules are phase (powder XRD) and chemically (GDMS) pure and exhibit a Verdet constant in the visible and near-infrared spectral ranges, which is at least three times higher than that of a commercial Tb3Ga5O12 (TGG) crystal. The synthesis, X-ray structure, magnetic and transport properties of the compound Ni(dmf) 6 [Ni(dsit) 2 ] 2 (dmf=dimethylformamide, dsit = 1,3-dithiole-2-thione-4,5-diselenolate) are described. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /c, with a = 18.709(6), b = 22.975(5), c = 20.418(5) A, β = 99.31(2)° and Z = 6; its structure consists of [Ni(dsit) 2 ] 2- 2 dimers and isolated [Ni(dmf) 6 ] 2+ cations both centrosymmetric and non-centrosymmetric. Magnetic and geochemical parameters of soils are determined with respect to geology, pedogenesis and anthropopression. Depending on local conditions these factors affect magnetic and geochemical signals simultaneously or in various configurations. We examined four type of soils (Entic Podzol, Eutric Cambisol, Humic Cambisol and Dystric Cambisol) developed on various bedrock (the Tumlin Sandstone, basaltoid, amphibolite and serpentinite, respectively). [mu-Tris(1,4-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)butane-N4,N4')iron(II)] bis(hexafluorophosphate), [Fe(btzb)(3)](PF6)(2), crystallizes in a three-dimensional 3-fold interlocked structure featuring a sharp two-step spin-crossover behavior. The spin conversion takes place between 164 and 182 K showing a discontinuity at about T-1/2 = 174 K and a hysteresis of about 4 K between T-1/2 and the low-spin state. The oxidized state of rusticyanin, the blue copper protein with the highest redox potential in its class, has been investigated through (1)H nuclear magnetic resonance applied to its cobalt(II) derivative. The assignment of the protons belonging to the coordinated residues has been performed. We present results of a quantum Monte Carlo simulation of the one-dimensional half-filled Hubbard model to study different correlation functions in the trans-polyacetylene (t-PA) polymer.
