Controlled iontophoretic release of glucocorticoids through epithelial cell monolayers

In the present study the iontophoretic transdermal delivery of three different glucocorticoids through a confluent monolayer of MDCK cells, mimicking biological barriers, was studied. For this experiment an in vitro model with platinum electrodes for iontophoresis and MDCK cells was developed. With this model investigations concerning the biocompatibility of the cells depending on different current densities and the iontophoretic permeation of the three glucocorticoids through the cell monolayer were carried out. The magnetic properties of ferrocene based macromolecules

Abstract Magnetic susceptibility data for conjugatively linked biferrocenes and a methylene bridged ferrocene polymer are presented. In 9,10-di((2-ferrocenyl)vinyl)anthracene a rigid divinylanthracene bridge is connecting two ferrocene units, and the oxidation of both iron centers leads to an antiferromagnetic coupling. In contrast, ferromagnetic coupling between iron centers is indicated for 2,2'-cis,trans-di((2-ferrocenyl)vinyl)biphenyl, where a twist around the phenyl-phenyl bond in the divinylbiphenyl bridging molecule is likely to occur.

Neutron diffraction studies of structural and magnetic properties of niobium doped cobaltites.

Neutron powder diffraction studies of the structural and magnetic properties of the La(1-x)Sr(x)Nb(y)Co(1-y)O(3) solid solutions (x = 0.2, 0.5; y = 0, 0.075, 0.1) have been performed. Substitution of Co(2+) by Nb(5+) prevents the formation of Co(4+) and leads to stabilization of the Co(3+) ions in the high- or intermediate-spin state. This is accompanied by the significant change of the Co-O bond length as well as Co-O-Co bond angle in the CoO(6) octahedron. The obtained data are in agreement with the negative sign of the magnetic exchange interactions Co(3+)-O-Co(3+) in a relatively wide range of the Co-O-Co bond angles. Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of the complex [ReCl3(tppz)]·MeCN

The reaction of the starting materials [ReIIICl3(MeCN)(PPh3)2] or [ReVOCl3(PPh3)2] with 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (tppz) in acetonitrile yielded the Re(III) complex [ReCl3(tppz)]·MeCN (1). This complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n and its crystal structure consists of neutral mononuclear entities with meridional geometry of the chloride ligands, and the six-coordination of the Re(III) ion being completed by the tridentate tppz ligand. Each metal centre exhibits a highly distorted octahedral coordination with Re–Cl and Re–Ntppz bond lengths covering the ranges 2.3590(9)–2.3606(8) and 1.971(2)–2.096(2) A, respectively. Tailoring the Exchange Interaction in Covalently Linked Basic Carboxylate Clusters through Bridging Ligand Selection

We are reporting new dimeric units of basic carboxylates bearing the {Fe III 2M IIO} motif for M = Co and Ni, covalently bound through the tetradentate bridging (LL) 2,2′-azopyiridine (azpy) and 2,3-di(2-pyridyl)quinoxaline ligands (dpq). We structurally characterized the hexanuclear clusters, and their magnetic properties have been fully analyzed. DFT calculations have been performed as a supplementary tool. All results evidence a weak antiferromagnetic interaction through the bridging ligands between isolated spin ground states arising from intra-Fe 2MO core exchange couplings. Magnetic excitations of a doped two-dimensional antiferromagnet

Magnetic excitations of the two-dimensional (2D) t-J model are considered in the presence of a small concentration of holes c. The spin-wave approximation used implies long-range antiferromagnetic ordering from the beginning. Migdal's theorem is shown to be valid for the model considered. The energy spectrum of the magnons is determined with the help of the one-pole approximation for the hole Green's function. If the concentration of mobile holes is larger than a critical value an additional branch of overdamped magnons arises near the \ensuremath{\Gamma} and M points of the Brillouin zone. The good performance of N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), in terms of versatility and selectivity, has called the attention of experimentalists and theoreticians attempting to understand their electronic properties. Analyses of the Au(I)–C bond in [(NHC)AuL]+/0 (L stands for a neutral or negatively charged ligand), through the Dewar–Chatt–Duncanson model and the charge displacement function, have revealed that NHC is not purely a σ‐donor but may have a significant π‐acceptor character.
