Demo 31.
Magnetic materials based on coordination chemistry: from switching molecules to multifunctional magnets
2021
Thermoelectric Radiation Detector Based on Superconductor-Ferromagnet Systems
2017
We suggest an ultrasensitive detector of electromagnetic fields exploiting the giant thermoelectric effect recently found in superconductor-ferromagnet hybrid structures. Compared with other types of superconducting detectors where the detected signal is based on variations of the detector impedance, the thermoelectric detector has the advantage of requiring no external driving fields. This is especially relevant in multipixel detectors, where the number of bias lines and the heating induced by them are an issue. We propose different material combinations to implement the detector and provide a detailed analysis of its sensitivity and speed. In particular, we perform a proper noise analysis…
La cueva de El Sidrón (Borines, Piloña, Asturias): primeros resultados
2003
Large Magnetic Polyoxometalates Containing the Cobalt Cubane ‘[CoIIICo3II(OH)3(H2O)6–m(PW9O34)]3− (m = 3 or 5) as a Subunit
2018
A synthetic procedure is presented to construct new magnetic polyoxometalates (POMs) containing one or two subunits of ‘[CoIIICo3II(OH)3(H2O)6−m(PW9O34)]3−' (m = 3 or 5). The substitution of the water ligands present in these subunits by oxo or hydroxo ligands belonging to other POM fragments, gives rise to four, larger POM anions: [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(PW9O34)2]9− (2), [Co7(OH)6(H2O)4(PW9O34)2]n9n- (2′), [Co11(OH)5(H2O)5(W6O24)(PW9O34)3]22− (3) and [{Co4(OH)3(H2O)(PW9O34)}2{K⊂(H2W12O41)2}{Co(H2O)4}2]17− (4). The crystal structures, magnetic characterization and stabilities in aqueous solutions of these POM derivatives are also presented.
A Gadolinium(III) Complex Based on the Thymine Nucleobase with Properties Suitable for Magnetic Resonance Imaging
2021
The paramagnetic gadolinium(III) ion is used as contrast agent in magnetic resonance (MR) imaging to improve the lesion detection and characterization. It generates a signal by changing the relaxivity of protons from associated water molecules and creates a clearer physical distinction between the molecule and the surrounding tissues. New gadolinium-based contrast agents displaying larger relaxivity values and specifically targeted might provide higher resolution and better functional images. We have synthesized the gadolinium(III) complex of formula [Gd(thy)2(H2O)6](ClO4)3·2H2O (1) [thy = 5-methyl-1H-pyrimidine-2,4-dione or thymine], which is the first reported compound based on gadolinium…
Ferro- and Antiferromagnetic Interactions in Oxalato-Centered Inverse Hexanuclear and Chain Copper(II) Complexes with Pyrazole Derivatives.
2021
Two novel copper(II) complexes of formulas {[Cu(4-Hmpz)4][Cu(4-Hmpz)2(µ3-ox-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′)(ClO4)2]}n (1) and {[Cu(3,4,5-Htmpz)4]2[Cu(3,4,5-Htmpz)2(µ3-ox-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′)(H2O)(ClO4)]2[Cu2(3,4,5-Htmpz)4(µ-ox-κ2O1,O2:κ2O2′,O1′)]}(ClO4)4·6H2O (2) have been obtained by using 4-methyl-1H-pyrazole (4-Hmpz) and 3,4,5-trimethyl-1H-pyrazole (3,4,5-Htmpz) as terminal ligands and oxalate (ox) as the polyatomic inverse coordination center. The crystal structure of 1 consists of perchlorate counteranions and cationic copper(II) chains with alternating bis(pyrazole)(µ3-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′-oxalato)copper(II) and tetrakis(pyrazole)copper(II) fragments. The crystal structure of 2 is made up of perchlorat…
