Thermal entanglement of a spin-1/2 Ising–Heisenberg model on a symmetrical diamond chain

2011

International audience; The entanglement quantum properties of a spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on a symmetrical diamond chain were analyzed. Due to the separable nature of the Ising-type exchange interactions between neighboring Heisenberg dimers, calculation of the entanglement can be performed exactly for each individual dimer. Pairwise thermal entanglement was studied in terms of the isotropic Ising-Heisenberg model and analytical expressions for the concurrence (as a measure of bipartite entanglement) were obtained. The effects of external magnetic field H and next-nearest neighbor interaction J(m) between nodal Ising sites were considered. The ground state structure and entanglement …

Malonic acid: A multi-modal bridging ligand for new architectures and properties on molecule-based magnets

2003

Abstract In this work, we show how the design of one-, two- and three-dimensional materials can strongly benefit from the use of crystal engineering techniques, which can give rise to structures of different shapes, and how these differences can give rise to different properties. We will focus on the networks constructed by assembling malonate ligands and metal centres. The idea of using malonate (dianion of propanedioic acid, H 2 mal) is that they can give rise to different coordination modes with the metal ions bind. Extended magnetic networks of dimensionalities 1 (1D), 2 (2D) and 3 (3D) can be chemically constructed from malonato-bridged metallic complexes. These coordination polymers b…

Layered Molecule-Based Magnets Formed by Decamethylmetallocenium Cations and Two-Dimensional Bimetallic Complexes [MIIRuIII(ox)3]−(MII=;Mn, Fe, Co, C…

2001

Abstract A new series of hybrid organometallic-inorganic layered magnets with formula [Z III Cp * 2 ] [M II Ru III (ox) 3 ] ( Z III =Co and Fe; M II =Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, and Zn; ox=oxalate: Cp * =pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) has been prepared. All of these compounds are isostructural to the previously reported [ Z III Cp * 2 ] [ M II M III (ox) 3 ] ( M III =Cr, Fe) series and crystallize in the monoclinic space group C 2/ m , as found by powder X-ray diffraction analysis. They are novel examples of magnetic materials formed by bimetallic oxalate-based extended layers separated by layers of organometallic cations. The magnetic properties of all these compounds have been investigated (ac and dc m…

Molecule-Based Magnets Formed by Bimetallic Three-Dimensional Oxalate Networks and Chiral Tris(bipyridyl) Complex Cations. The Series [ZII(bpy)3][ClO…

2000

The synthesis, structure, and physical properties of the series of molecular magnets formulated as [ZII(bpy)3][ClO4][MIICrIII(ox)3] (ZII = Ru, Fe, Co, and Ni; MII = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn; ox = oxalate dianion) are presented. All the compounds are isostructural to the [Ru(bpy)3][ClO4][MnCr(ox)3] member whose structure (cubic space group P4(1)32 with a = 15.506(2) A, Z = 4) consists of a three-dimensional bimetallic network formed by alternating MII and CrIII ions connected by oxalate anions. The identical chirality (lambda in the solved crystal) of all the metallic centers determines the 3D chiral structure adopted by these compounds. The anionic 3D sublattice leaves some holes where th…

Synthesis of novel polypyridylcarbonylpyridines from triazolopyridines. Building blocks in supramolecular chemistry

2009

The synthesis from triazolopyridines 1, of novel triazolopyridylcarbonylpyridylcarbonyltriazolopyridines (TPyCOPyCOTPy) (tpcpctp) 7, and polypyridylcarbonylpyridines (pPyCOPy) (ppcp) 14, building blocks in supramolecular chemistry, is described. These compounds are interesting polynitrogenated ligands as potential molecular sensors, new magnetic materials, single molecular magnets, or in the emerging science of nanomaterials. An Online Observer for Minimization of Pulsating Torque in SMPM Motors.

2015

A persistent problem of surface mounted permanent magnet (SMPM) motors is the non-uniformity of the developed torque. Either the motor design or the motor control needs to be improved in order to minimize the periodic disturbances. This paper proposes a new control technique for reducing periodic disturbances in permanent magnet (PM) electro-mechanical actuators, by advancing a new observer/estimator paradigm. A recursive estimation algorithm is implemented for online control. The compensating signal is identified and added as feedback to the control signal of the servo motor. Compensation is evaluated for different values of the input signal, to show robustness of the proposed method.

Ultracold atomic Bose and Fermi spinor gases in optical lattices

2006

We investigate magnetic properties of Mott-insulating phases of ultracold Bose and Fermi spinor gases in optical lattices. We consider in particular the F=2 Bose gas, and the F=3/2 and F=5/2 Fermi gases. We derive effective spin Hamiltonians for one and two atoms per site and discuss the possibilities of manipulating the magnetic properties of the system using optical Feshbach resonances. We discuss low temperature quantum phases of a 87Rb gas in the F=2 hyperfine state, as well as possible realizations of high spin Fermi gases with either 6Li or 132Cs atoms in the F=3/2 state, and with 173Yb atoms in the F=5/2 state.

Rational design of a new class of heterobimetallic molecule-based magnets: Synthesis, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of oxamato-bridged …

2008

Abstract Two new series of oxamato-bridged heterobimetallic coordination networks of general formula Li5[Li3M2(mpba)3(H2O)6] · 31H2O [M = NiII (1a) and CoII (1b)] and Li2[Mn3M2(mpba)3(H2O)6] · 22H2O [M = NiII (2a) and CoII (2b)] have been prepared from the metal-mediated self-assembly of the hexakis(bidentate), triple-stranded dinickel(II) and dicobalt(II) complexes [M2(mpba)3]8− [mpba = meta-phenylenebis(oxamato)] with either monovalent lithium(I) or divalent manganese(II) ions respectively, in water. X-ray structural analyses of 1a and 1b show an anionic three-dimensional network formed by an infinite parallel array of oxamato-bridged Li 3 I M 2 II (M = Ni and Co) hexagonal layers, which …

A Cogging Torque Minimization Procedure for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Based on a Progressive Modification of the Rotor Lamination …

2022

This article describes a simple cogging torque minimization procedure for interior permanent magnet synchronous machines (IPMSMs), consisting of a progressive modification of the rotor lamination geometry. This procedure can be generalized for the main topologies of PMSM, independently of the number of stator slots or the location of the permanent magnets. For this purpose, a basic IPMSM structure is analyzed by means of the FEM (finite element method) approach, and then, several other IPMSM geometries, obtained by adequately modifying the rotor lamination geometry of the basic IPMSM model without changing its stator configuration, are proposed and discussed. The trends of the cogging torqu…
