Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tarkastella geenimuunnelluista elintarvikkeista käytävää sanomalehtikeskustelua. Aikaisemmissa tutkimuksissa geenimuuntelua käsittelevää keskustelua on tutkittu usein jakamalla keskustelijat kahteen vastakkaiseen leiriin, myönteisesti ja kielteisesti suhtautuviin. Näkökulma peittää alleen enemmän tai vähemmän mielipiteestään epävarmojen keskustelijoiden joukon ja vahvistaa entisestään käsitystä ongelman teknisestä luonteesta. Tässä tutkimuksessa esiin pääsevät myös rintamalinjojen väliin sijoittuvat keskustelijat, usein varovaisen myönteisesti, mutta peruskriittisesti asennoituvat kansalaiset. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tarkastella paloviinan kotipolton kieltämistä koskenutta keskustelua suomenkielisessä sanomalehdistössä, liittyen vuoden 1863 säätyvaltiopäiviin, joilla asia oli käsittelyssä. Tutkimusaineisto koostui 38:sta kirjeestä, jotka julkaistiin lehdistössä kymmenen vuoden aikajaksolla ennen ja jälkeen valtiopäivien vuosina 1857–1867. Kirjeet olivat maaseutu- ja vähemmässä määrin kaupunkikirjeenvaihtajien kirjoittamia, ja niiden kirjoittajat edustivat eri säätyjä – talonpoikia, aatelisia, pappeja ja porvareita. Background Little previous research has analysed the relationship between schools' indoor air problems and schools' social climate. In this study, we analysed a) whether observed mould and dampness in a school building relates to students' perceptions of school climate (i.e. teacher-student relationships and class spirit) and b) whether reported subjective indoor air quality (IAQ) at the school level mediates this relationship. This article reviews the data supporting the role of receptor activator of the nuclear factor kappa (RANK) and its ligand, RANKL, in progestogen-induced breast cancer. Both experimental and clinical studies have been included. The expression of both RANK and RANKL has been described in epithelial cells of both mice and humans.
