We believe that comparative studies on animal cognition may help us in throwing light on its evolutionary path, if we refer to this term as the basic ability to connect elements in a regulated order. Non-human animals, indeed, lack the ability to connect tokens yielding an infinite variety of meaningful sentence-frames. This is due (at least) to anatomical or neural reasons. Nonetheless, the study of evolutionary convergences and phylogenetical dynamics, namely the analysis of monkeys' and birdsongs' utterances - reveal evidences for the presence of a “phonic” syntax, interestingly evolved in both species as a mean to modulate social contacts and spaces.

Tradicionalmente, los tubos fotomultiplicadores (PMTs, en inglés) acoplados a cristales centelleadores han jugado un papel dominante en la detección de rayos gamma. Background This article uses the logistic regression model for diagnostic decision making in patients with chronic nasal symptoms. Individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) experience sleep disturbances due to the impact of respiratory symptoms on sleep quality. We explored whether sleep disturbances in COPD are linked to heterogeneity of airway constriction.The impact of breathing problems on sleep quality was measured in consecutive COPD outpatients with the COPD and Asthma Sleep Impact Scale (CASIS) questionnaire. Impulse oscillometry technique (IOS) was employed to assess heterogeneity of airway constriction. Abstract Introduction The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy interventions for insomnia (CBT-I) to that of a sleep hygiene intervention in a randomized controlled design among shift workers. We also studied whether the features of shift work disorder (SWD) affected the results. Background: Several studies have linked coffee intake and smoking to foetal death, but a possible interaction between both exposures remains unknown.Methods: We studied, within the Danish National Birth Cohort, the potential interaction between smoking and coffee drinking while pregnant on the risk of foetal (early and late) death.
